L’écriture et le fruit défendu : textualité et conversion dans le Roman de la Poire

Résumé

Le Roman de la Poire est un poème allégorique du treizième siècle construit autour d'une alternance entre modes d'expression oral et écrit, lyrique et narratif. Dans cet article, l'auteur considère la polarisation entre chant et écriture dans le cadre de la trajectoire narrative du roman, allant de la naissance de l'amour sous le poirier à l'achèvement du livre. Se révèle alors la présence d'un habile narrateur articulant, à travers le motif conventionnel de la capitulation à l'Amour, sa propre conversion à une poétique de l'écriture.

Abstract

The Roman de la Poire is a thirteenth-century allegorical poem standing at the juncture between oral and written, lyric and narrative modes of expression. In this article, the author considers the poetic tension between song and writing in terms of the narrative trajectory of the roman, from the amorous tryst under the pear tree to the completion of the written book. What emerges is a crafty narrator articulating, through the conventional motif of a capitulation to the commands of Love, his own conversion to a poetics of writing.
