In general, Moscow's stated intention over the past several years to rebalance its diplomacy and foreign economic relations in favor of the “Asian vector” is met with skepticism. In Western countries, this rebalancing is frequently considered to be mainly the product of the crisis in strategic relations between Russia and the Euro-Atlantic community after the annexation of Crimea in 2014. Russian experts and scholars, meanwhile, also seem perplexed. However, as difficult as it may be, Russia's “Asian pivot” deserves attention, as for this country it corresponds to stakes and challenges that relate to both its security and its claimed great power status. The question is whether Russia is making the best use of the possibilities opened up by the Asian context, which has appeared a little more favourable to its interests in the recent past.

AbstractThe Democratic Republic of Congo has known serious interethnic conflicts which led the country to a balkanization. After being its “father”, President Mobutu became seen as the “orchestrator” of the Zairian nation, because everybody knew that he was the instigator of internal divisions among different Congolese populations in general and, in particular, of the conflict that created for the second time a division between natives of Kasaï and those of Katanga. In this study, we review different mechanisms set up by public institutions and by NGOS and associations to bring together the two antagonistic communities, by initiating negociations and mediation in order to reread their common past, recognize their mistakes, mend their ways, reharmonize their link and restore peace in the province of Katanga in particular and in DR Congo in general.

Following Pierre Moeglin's work (2006, 2016) on the industrialization of education, this paper is set in the context of the growing diffusion of a conception of digital education promoted by the French educational technology (EdTech) sector. We present the socio-economic context in which EdTech companies operate, and then introduce elements of reflection on the concept of “educational platform” in relation to existing works. The methodology, inspired by French social semiotics (Saemmer et al., 2022), mobilizes critical concepts from the semiotics of screen writing, coupled with research training with teachers, to whom we proposed to question the design choices of educational artifacts during a training course. Using the Lalilo platform as an object of study, we show how an introduction to social semiotics can lead teachers to reflect not only on the values, norms, and representations of the world modeled in the design of educational platforms, but also on their own representations of digital education.
