Father Alexis de Barbezieux, capuchin, born Georges Derouziers (1854-1941), was one of the first propagators in French Canada of the social doctrine of the Church, inaugurated by the encyclical of Pope Leo XIII, Rerum novarum (1891). Sensitive to the realities of the workers, he gave conferences and preached in many parishes to popularize the thought of the Church and support the action of the workers. Appointed chaplain to the Catholic unions of Quebec in 1902, he acted for 12 years as a mediator and adviser, always with tact and diplomacy. With the experience of a rich and astonishing life, he contributed to opening up the Catholic Church to a certain modernity at the beginning of the 20th century.

Research Framework: Energy transition calls for a better understanding of daily practices and routines involved in energy consumption. Objectives: This article explores the relational dimension of everyday energy practices, and highlights the role played by social relations in transforming these practices.Methodology: This paper draws on a secondary analysis of qualitative data. The data come from co-design activities around energy savings carried out in the spring of 2021 with thirty-seven participants. Results: The results illustrate the process of intergenerational transmission and the negotiation of norms surrounding energy consumption within households and show how these exchanges play a direct part in the construction of family and couple life. The results also highlight the limitations contained in the material infrastructure and the tensions between parental and energy-efficient practices. Conclusions: To contribute to the energy transition, households, especially families, need a high degree of support. Adopting energy-efficient practices requires close collaboration between household members. They also need to be supported by programs and public policies that recognize the disparity of resources available for action, and take into account the diversity of their experiences and needs.Contribution: This paper contributes to the scientific literature by aiming to develop a better understanding of the role of social interactions in the realization of everyday practices, and in the adoption of sustainable lifestyles.

This article reviews some of the communicative strategies of plant-based meat, a food innovation that promises an experience akin to that of animal meat, but devoid from its harmful consequences relating to the well-being of humans, animals, and the planet. Mobilizing a constitutive approach on communication, we trace the founding narrative of the Beyond Meat firm using various documents, which enables us to highlight the main communication strategies developed in them. Beyond Meat positions itself in continuity with the prevalent meat culture. Minimizing the responsibility of cattlemen, meatpackers, and animal meat consumers, it rather targets livestock for their inefficiency to transform plants and water into meat and engages to eliminate this intermediary by producing meat directly from plants. Recruiting various collaborators in restaurants, grocery stores, and celebrities to help normalize plant-based meat, Beyond Meat further calls upon consumers as members of a social movement whose engagement would save the planet, one burger at a time.

The present article displays a teleo-axiological reflection on the way west-African entrepreneurs contribute to renew representations of Africa. More specifically, our research explores valuation strategies for the continent as it is made by entrepreneurs engaged in a cultural mission. By comparing cases of both traditional and social entrepreneurs in the fields of fashion, we showcase multiple plausible valuation strategies mobilized by entrepreneurs in their project. Our results also contribute to develop knowledge on entrepreneurial values mobilization in order to deploy a valorising activity for their home country and encourage practitioners to practicing reflexivity.

In Canada, First Nations are placing increasing emphasis on youth perspectives in their political and territorial self-determination projects. This article presents a one-day participatory mapping workshop carried out as part of the ‘Tshishipiminu' research partnership (2011 to 2019) between geographers at Université Laval and Pekuakamiulnuatsh Takuhikan, the political authority of the Ilnu Nation of Mashteuiatsh (Quebec). The workshop was conducted in April 2016 with young Pekuakamiulnuatsh aged 15 and 16 to document their representations and practices of the territory. The activity used maps and objects as supports for collective discussions, and sketch mapping as a means of expressing lived spaces. The workshop showed that while not all young people have a political vision of their territory, they generally continue to practise activities linked to Ilnu culture (hunting, fishing, handicraft, etc.). Moreover, the colonial and industrial transformations of the territory have not prevented them from feeling a sense of belonging to it. Finally, they are reappropriating colonial spaces, including ilnu assi (the ‘reserve') which has become a marker of identification.

Entrepreneurial autonomy is a major feature of franchise networks that can conflict with the need for integration in an omnichannel marketing strategy. This article relies on practice theory to investigate franchisors' approaches to build omnichannel integration with franchisees. Multi-informant case studies in seven franchise networks highlighted three integration styles that are characterized by an increasing level of autonomy granted to franchisees: a directive style, based on a strong centralization of omnichannel choices and integration by the minimization of franchisees' autonomy; a collaborative style, based on omnichannel coconstruction with the franchisees and integration through its local appropriation; and an empowerment style, based on the empowerment of franchisees over omnichannel choices and trust-based integration.

Anti-Semitism in the discourse of French-Canadian nationalist journals and dailies has long been the focus of Jewish Studies research in Quebec. However, the nationalist journal L'Action nationale has hardly ever been analyzed by historians on this topic. As part of this study, we consulted over 1,200 articles in L'Action nationale between 1933 and 1948 to identify the various social representations of the Jews present in the thought, discourse and doctrine of this nationalist journal. This research revealed that L'Action nationale drew on the ideological register of anti-Jewish prejudice to defend its nationalist and traditionalist vision of French-Canadian society, and to denounce the political, economic, social and cultural transformations, particularly in Catholic and French-speaking Montreal. However, these references to Jews remain marginal, and are too few in number to have a decisive influence on its discourse or doctrine.
