SummaryIndustrial Anthropology in the Field : A Case in PoitouThe recent burgeoning of publication in industrial ethnology calls for examination of the social setting where such research is undertaken and developed. Studies cannot thrive without cooperation among all the individuals, groups and organizations implicated in anthropological pursuits. This article presents the case of a Poitiers savings institution - the Caisse d'Activités Sociales de l'Electricité et du Gaz de France - that entered into active partnership with the municipal museum, which thus opened itself onto the working-class and industrial culture.
