This paper presents the definition, characteristics, and measures of the optimal experience or flow. It describes the historical foundation of the theory, the relations between flow and personal growth, and between flow and culture. It also provides some recent and important studies about flow. Finally, it offers a few suggestions for future research.

Professional orchestras have become scapegoats in postcolonial critiques of inequity in the Canadian arts ecosystem, with the orchestra, more than any other Western classical music structure, signifying continued Eurocentric dominance of both form (including behaviour) and the corollary fiscal cost required to maintain it. Perceptually, the form and cost of orchestras—when weighed against the non-Western—exist at the expense of other musical practices. This is problematic given current Canadian ethnocultural demographics.

Teaching staff in colleges and universities deal with the growing presence of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, for instance offered by their institution or used by their students. However, the pedagogical use of these tools requires some knowledge about how they work, especially when it comes to address their limitations and recognize the ethical risks they carry. As of today, there is no precise way to measure the level of AI literacy of higher education teachers. This study proposes a questionnaire with 25 items to address this issue, based on a first draft of 29 items. A sample of 395 teachers was recruited through mailing lists of colleges and universities. Exploratory and confirmatory factorial analyses were conducted and allowed the detection of three latent variables: technical knowledge related to AI, level of sensitivity to ethical concerns, and capacity to use AI tools in a pedagogical setting.

An instrument that has already proven its relevance to Indigenous languages in its implementation at national level by the States Parties, the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions also has a certain influence in commercial matters. A study of post-2005 trade agreements reveals that there are indeed cultural clauses that aim and can contribute to protecting Indigenous languages. These cultural clauses are all the more interesting in that they come in a variety of forms: reservations, specific commitments, cultural exception clauses, etc. The present text therefore proposes to list, quantify and analyze these different cultural clauses that the Parties to the UNESCO Convention have included in the various negotiated trade agreements they have negotiated, and which can contribute to the preservation of Indigenous languages, while promoting the principles and objectives of the 2005 Convention. This study thus makes it possible to list the best practices in this field.

This research aimed to analyze first evidence of validity of the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale with French Canadian adolescents using a revised and translated version by a research group of Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (Léveillée, 2012). Confirmatory factorial analysis with Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimator was realized to test five different models with 183 adolescents (143 girls and 40 boys) from 14 to 18 years old. Results indicate that the traditional oblique 3-factor model best represents the data.

In 2019, the Mexican government began the development of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, a logistics and multimodal platform that links the Pacific and Atlantic oceans through the renovation of the trans-isthmic railway and two ports built in the 19th century. The goal is to increase global connectivity by efficiently transporting goods through the states of Veracruz and Oaxaca across the narrowest strip of land in the country. Based on historical and ethnographic research, I examine how the geography of the Isthmus has generated repeated interest in the region, shaping the material and ideological values and meanings of transportation infrastructures. In this article, I analyze how the modernization of the Port of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, a strategic component of the corridor, generates different ideas and experiences of development. Concepts such as modernity, progress, and connectivity are entry points to discuss how infrastructure acquires an almost mythical character, legitimizing failures and expectations of national development from one administration to the next.
