This article proposes a systematic review on the multifaceted concept of “exogenous shock” in the field of international business (IB). The spread of shocks and the magnitude of their consequences are drawing the attention of IB researchers to how these rare, unpredictable and brutal phenomena are perceived and managed by firms operating abroad. This research, based on a content analysis of 176 articles, provides research trends with a definition, a typology of shocks as well as eight research avenues for future IB research.

Despite decades of research, there is still no consensus on the impact of internationalization level on performance. Our objective is to show that this is partly explained by the use of different methods for measuring variables. We conducted a study on the global automotive industry over a period of 10 years, using various methods to measure internationalization on one hand, and performance on the other. Our results validate our hypothesis. We think that by using different indicators, researchers measure very different dimensions of internationalization and performance. Our research indicates that it would be useful to return to more in-depth analyses of the link between different forms of internationalization and different facets of performance.

This article examines the first stages of the constitution of a Quebec anti-sanitary measures network on Twitter between March 12, the date of the announcement by the Premier of Quebec of the first sanitary restrictions, and March 31, 2020. Based on a sociotechnical approach, it examines the assembly of anti-sanitary discourses and the role of the different actors, both human and technological, who contribute to shaping their contours and content. Through the analysis of the four stages that punctuate the elaboration of a network—problematization, interest, enrolment, and mobilization of allies—it demonstrates how a populism from below takes shape over the course of the exchanges, fuelled by conspiracy theories, which contribute to the crystallization of an opposition between the elites and the people. The stabilization of the identity of this network is thus not based on a substratum of shared facts, or on a common reading grid of the health crisis, but on a posture of denunciation of the political, economic, and scientific elites. It thus allows the convergence of the “anti-,” including the anti-vaccines, anti-environmentalists, and anti-pluralists, but above all the anti-elites and anti-systems, and participates very early in the crisis provoked by COVID‑19 in the enlargement of the network.

Inequality of income and happiness seem to be in a negative correlation and the latter could be greater in rich than in poor societies. To examine this hypothesis, data were collected on 144 countries. The hypothesis was confirmed for two indexes of happiness: life evaluation and subjective well-being, but only for rich countries, even when controlling the effect of purchasing power. Beyond some level of inequality, the economic growth does not improve well-being in rich countries. In these countries, economic growth counts less than a fair distribution of wealth. Because of the serious repercussions of inequality on mental health, psychologists are invited to pay attention to it in their interventions.

Climate change discourse often negates grief and mourning associated with the resulting environmental alterations. Mourning, however, holds potential for expanding climate change discourse in politically and ethically productive ways. This article extends the analysis of mourning to non-humans through a recognition of shared vulnerability, and examines the ways in which constituting non-humans as mournable expands climate change discourse, research, ethics, and politics. By transcending humanism to ground an ethical ecology of mourning, the ways in which thinking climate change as the work of mourning can contribute to an ecological democracy-to-come, and achieve a more inclusive political order, will be considered.
