The stronger the GAFA's influence, the more we become aware of the fragility of the democratic societies that engendered them. The decline of the press and professional journalism increases the risk of large-scale manipulations that the crowd does not know how to guard against. The largest digital companies are aware of the risks they pose to us all, but do not know and can not stave off them in the context of the fierce competition that forces them to seek ever more ways to capture everyone's attention.

Since their creation in 2004, social networking sites have become a central communication tool for many internet users. The aim of this article is to examine the links between social network use and various intrapersonal and interpersonal variables. In this study, 822 participants involved in a steady intimate relationship answered an online survey. Results revealed that the more Internet users reported attachment anxiety, neuroticism, and cyber infidelity, the more they spent time on their social network activities. Results of multiple regression analyses showed that the number of friends on Facebook, as well as problems related to Facebook contributed significantly to the variance of couple adjustment and sexual satisfaction.

Connectivity has become in a few years the unsurpassable horizon of all sociability. But its main operators, and particularly Facebook, have shown neither the willingness nor the ability to guide their services according to the exchanges most favorable to the enrichment of interpersonal relationships. The global strategy of the major digital media groups is indifferent to the effects of their location in many societies where the circulation of rumors has deleterious effects. From Kenya to Brazil and from Burma to the United States, we see the challenge of avoiding digital outbursts during election campaigns or political crises that social networks exacerbate rather than temperate.

The network societies live themselves as integrated communities. It is particularly difficult for them to perceive themselves as a profound disruption of the traditional ways of life that lead to social integration. We must use authors like Georg Simmel to understand how modern societies are accelerating their tempo and generating collectives whose anthropological anchoring is very precarious despite their driving force on the whole of humanity.

Facebook gives its users the option to download in a compressed file all the data generated through their use of this social media. The possibility to do so — and therefore momentarily step back from the flux logic at the heart of Facebook — paves the way for many autoreflexive potentialities. Fabrice Masson-Goulet has explored one of them with Anamnèse, an uncreative writing project that can be considered as an example of a technique of the self.

In Morocco, floods worsened by climate change damage or pollute drinkable water sources. While victims seek accommodation, there is a question of how to adequately support citizens in addressing such complex environmental issues. Design thinking and Facebook were chosen in order to accompany ten Moroccan women in solving a problem with drinking water caused by flooding. In design thinking, needs analysis, abduction and rapid prototyping are promoted. Like other social networks, Facebook could facilitate problems definition, discussion and elaboration of solutions. With the help of videos, pictures and comments, the participants shared on Facebook their experience on flooding, and tried to solve together their drinking water problem. Design thinking and Facebook allowed these women to explore many aspects of the problem, and to prototype and implement diverse realistic and locally adapted water purification solutions. It is the creative dimension of this initiative, and the use of diverse media that allows establishing here a link with the artistic process.
