With the advent of Facebook and its interactive and technological possibilities, relational modalities have been transposed, but also transformed, especially our ability to contact others through a digital identity, in different times and spaces. Through this system, we now remain in touch with the dead, with whom we share this virtual space. Some users even go so far as to continue posting publicly on deceased people's profiles. This article is about this phenomenon. Based on an analysis of data gathered from public posts and original textual creations published posthumously, collected from the Facebook profiles of deceased people, I established five categories to define the intentions and dynamics underlying these publications. In this text, three of the five categories (Honor and tribute, Legacy awareness, Exchanges among the living) will be presented and discussed in order to shed light on how the relationship to death and mourning is experienced in the age of Facebook.

The use of social Media is spreading over all organizational forms. Their recent use in the non-commercial sector poses a challenge of the existing relation maintained with users. Sport Federations and uncommon structures from the voluntary sector, use these platforms to reach captive audiences different from sports clubs. This article's object is to answer the question of the trust determining factors between a sport federation and its Facebook page users. Based on a quantitative study realised amongst members of a sport federation, main results show in particular the importance attached to credibility in the relationship of trust.

The spring of 2012 was marked by a major social upheaval in Quebec, triggered by the conflict surrounding the proposed increase in tuition fees. Various observers have suggested that Web 2.0 platforms, or social media, played a leading role in this upheaval. Facebook and Twitter, in particular, constitute a source of information and a tool for sharing information that, although not replacing mass media, have contributed to transforming the way people obtain information, talk about issues and form an opinion. This article undertakes to document, using a sociographic approach, these emerging information practices in order to better understand them and to determine to what extent they are circumstantial or indicative of a deeper evolution. The survey applies a hybrid approach that is based on a series of in-depth qualitative interviews held with about thirty young people (students and non-students) between the ages of 18 and 25 during the upheaval, complemented by a “guided tour” of their Facebook timelines regarding this event. The study showed that, apart from certain recurring features, the usages and representations of this platform are far from homogeneous within this age group, and that these reflect social cleavages known to characterize Quebec.

The aim of this paper is to present the learning and teaching styles using the Social Learning Environment (SLE), which was developed based on the computer supported collaborative learning approach. To avoid burdening learners with multiple platforms and tools, SLE was designed and developed in order to integrate existing systems, institutional learning, management systems, and Facebook. With SLE, a learner is exposed to instructional learning material, problem-based, project-based, and social learning. This work focuses on presenting and analyzing effectiveness of implemented teaching and learning scenarios that are used by means of SLE. This study investigates the use of SLE as a learning environment and it examines student satisfaction and online activity while using it. The aim is to evaluate the overall effectiveness of integrating SLE with online learning and to determine how using SLE effects student learning. This analysis points out the advantages and disadvantages of using SLE in online learning and provides recommendations for future improvements.

On social media, there is a very large number of audiovisual publications. This represents a considerable analytical material that can be studied from multiple angles. In addition to analyzing the contents themselves, taking into account comments related to audiovisual publications makes it possible to understand their reception. It also allows us to grasp the social dynamics that are being set up on online exchange platforms. Focusing on data collected on Facebook, this article shows how this methodology makes it possible to approach a topic as sensitive as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is specifically aimed at presenting how the reference to Nazism serves as a means of delegitimizing the adversary, whether pro-Palestinian or pro-Israeli. The author observes that the comment sections on Facebook are above all spaces of self-assertion and exchange between people who share the same opinions. Little room is left for intergroup exchanges that could lead to the development of a true dialogue. Hate speech is frequently found and is sometimes based on references to Nazism. In the end, in-depth analysis of the comments makes it possible to delimit four types of discursive strategies of (de)legitimation.

Through its website, Facebook, and Weibo page, the University of British Columbia (UBC) states its commitment to being a top-ranked and equitable institution. Using multimodal critical discourse analysis (MCDA), we examined differences across the three platforms and found episodic attention to anti-racism and truth and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples on ubc.ca; however, this attention was absent on UBC's Weibo page and less evident on its Facebook page. Conversely, statements concerning UBC's rankings were consistent and frequent across the three platforms. We draw on the concept of mediatization to analyze how time and online spatial separation of information create an illusion of a coherent narrative that encompasses the incommensurate goals of being a more equitable university while also being top-ranked, particularly to students from China. We conclude with the importance of providing prospective international students with an understanding of the place and sociopolitical and historical context in which they hope to study.

Cambridge Bay News is a popular Facebook group that residents of Iqaluktuuttiaq use to communicate within the town. Many members also use the group to share country food with others. Our paper looks at residents' practices of sharing food on Cambridge Bay News and the impact these practices have on relationships within the community. Comparing these practices with oral history and anthropological accounts of Inuinnait sharing practices, we examine how food sharing is changing relationships within Iqaluktuuttiaq and between people and the land in response to ongoing colonial practices.
