While hybridization is favored by many creators who divert the utilitarian media's functions to create new forms of expression, little research addresses artists' multimodal practice or young people's informal productions as cultural capital for school. The latter rather focuses on communicating messages at the expense of the creation of forms. By analyzing these practices, we want to better understand and integrate them in the teaching of arts and language, to foster practices that are both sensitive and carriers of significant messages. Our sensory ethnography approach includes questionnaires and interviews on the creative/receptive practices of young people and artists. Our preliminary analyses show the need to link these practices, redefine creation and develop new teaching strategies that encourage hybridity/multimodality in arts and language. In this article, we present our research problem, analytical framework and methodological approach; we analyse three cases and present three artistic practices; we conclude on the importance of developing a pedagogy informed by youth's informal learning.

This article explores the mastery of each component of the eighth professional competence which examines the integration of information and communication technologies (ICTs). This competence was integrated by the Quebec Ministry of Education and is one of 12 competencies to be acquired by prospective teachers (Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec [MEQ], 2001). While this skill must be mastered at the end of their university education, future teachers in Quebec have deficiencies in the mastery of technology. Many studies show that teachers make little use of ICTs either because of personal reasons, of infrastructure problems, or lack of training. This paper proposes to assess each component of the professional competency in the integration of ICTs in 2,065 prospective teachers in the province of Quebec, during their internships. Results indicate that of the six components of competence, one is generally well mastered, four are partially mastered, and one component needs to be developed.

Secularism is a difficult concept to pinpoint. Indeed, it has never been officially defined, even in the few countries where secularism figures as one of the founding principles of the constitution. If anything, the meanings attributed to secularism evolve according to historical contexts and political issues. This encourages the spread of multiple representations—all legitimate—of what secularism might be, in turn feeding the scientific debate. To researchers, the inherent polysemy of the term secularism evokes the dynamic nature of the social reality they seek to analyze. This text, aligned with this perspective, stresses the importance of sociographic research on secularism, including the study of its historical trajectories, philosophical foundations, legal underpinnings and the social debates it provokes and that prove essential for a comprehensive analysis of the topic.

Political Catalanism is historically rooted in the Catalan language. For centuries, Catalan was the majority language in Catalonia, but became the language of a minority during the 20th century, especially due to linguistic repression and successive waves of immigration from Spain, and later from abroad. In this context, it would be unthinkable to succeed with an independence project mainly based on the national language. The Catalan independence movement has adapted to this new multilingual reality by reorienting its approach to language : Catalan still is a pillar of the national project, but this project is also presented in Spanish and many other languages. Catalan civil society, at the heart of the project, mobilized in various ways, and the undertaking of huge translation projects is certainly one of the lesser-known aspects of this mobilization. Translations are being done into the main languages of immigration in order to convince Neo-Catalans of the rightfulness of national independence, a strategy that seems to bear fruit. The contrast between Catalonia's Independence movement's relationship with multilingualism and Quebec's Independence movement's quasi-unilingualism is striking.

The problems faced by dysphasic children and teenagers, well documented in the scientific literature, are tenacious and render their experience and that of their parents full of pitfalls and setbacks. The purpose of this study is to learn about Quebec parents' perceptions of access to speech therapy services for their dysphasic children aged 2 to 17 years, whether in health facilities, educational institutions or privately. An online questionnaire was completed by 377 parents from across Quebec, and an analysis of their answers has led to certain observations. First, there appears to be rather limited access to speech therapy services in the public network that can screen for, identify, evaluate and intervene with dysphasic children and adolescents. The parents also reported that the transition from health facilities to the services in school settings is generally not very smooth. Furthermore, it is difficult to understand why such disparities exist in waiting times for access to speech therapy services in different parts of the province. Lastly, to compensate for the limited speech therapy services in public facilities, most respondents reported that they had turned to costly private services. The results suggest that the services offered fall short of the principles promised in the Government of Quebec's Plan d'accès ministériel aux services pour les personnes ayant une déficience (departmental plan for access to services for persons with disabilities), such as equity, an appropriate response to the needs of persons with disabilities and their families, service integration and complementarity.

Among families of children with developmental delays such as global developmental delay (GDD) or intellectual disability (ID), most of the challenges faced during childhood are increased by the consequences related to the child's diagnosis. Families' experiences surrounding diagnostic evaluation and early intervention services can have important repercussions on the family's quality of life and the child's development. To acquire a better understanding of the situation of Quebec families with a child having GDD or ID, this study document 61 parents' perception surrounding diagnosis evaluation and early intervention services trajectory offered in the province of Quebec. Data was collected from an online survey made with multiple choices and open-ended questions. The results show that the determinant of assessment of the quality of the trajectory perceived most negatively by families was the accessibility of services. In addition, families positively assessed services offered to the child directly while those offered to the family surrounding the child were evaluated more negatively. A family-centered approach is suggested to maximize the support received by each family member both in terms of orientation of services and psychological support to the family.

The mechanisms underlying the (non-)identification of a situation as sexual violence influence the understanding and description of the event. While researchers have estimated the prevalence of sexual violence despite its under-reporting, few have explored the description of the situation experienced by victims, whether they refer to it as sexual violence or not. Based on 247 narratives, this research proposes a qualitative analysis of the contextual cues mobilized by undergraduate university students to describe and interpret the situation, according to the perception of its unacceptability. The objectives are 1) to describe the benchmarks involved in the description of situations of sexual violence in university context experienced by undergraduate female students and 2) to explore how rape myths and rape script can influence the description of these situations. This research adopts a feminist analysis framework. The results suggest three main categories. First, the majority of narratives point to the unacceptability of the situation, based on different contextual cues such as lack of sexual consent, repetition of unwanted sexual behaviors or negative impacts as a result of the sexual violence (n = 162). Then, some narratives (n = 79) reveal qualifications that hinder the identification of the unacceptable nature of the situation, whether by terms reflecting minimization, banalization or a tolerance towards this type situation. Finally, the third category highlights ambivalence in how to describe the situation of sexual violence (n = 6). These results will be discussed with regard to the chosen theoretical concepts.

As part of an inductive and qualitative approach carried out from November 2020 to January 2021, we collected discourse data on the experiences and daily realities of 55 library professionals, both public and academic, regarding audiences and their use of digital books in libraries in Quebec. We then presented our analyses to some of them for discussion. Finally, we presented our draft analysis to two experts, one in the field of publishing and the other in libraries, to discuss our findings with them.

The regulatory framework for psychotherapy in Quebec—the Nouvelles modalités d'encadrement de la psychothérapie, NMEP—which came came into being in 2012, defines psychotherapy and regulates its practice. Pursuant to these regulations, the majority of social workers were no longer allowed to practice psychotherapy. Given a certain overlap between social work and psychotherapy, we examined the impacts of the NMEP on social workers by administering a questionnaire, to which 74 Quebec social workers responded. The results indicate that the impacts differ depending on whether the respondents have a psychotherapist permit, do not have a permit or have attempted to obtain one.
