The transition of university libraries towards digital technology presents a number of challenges and calls for necessary changes on the part of both users and personnel. The role of librarians has evolved: not long ago they were the principle sources of information; now, they are required to demonstrate the added-value of their skills in managing the multitude of available documentary research tools. This article presents the past and present experiences at the Library and Archive Services of the Université de Sherbrooke, as well as the consequences for the latter of the journey into the age of electronic documentary research.
