Conversion of the Wendats is often considered one of the great successes of the Jesuits in North America. The missionaries managed to establish the first true “Wendat Church”. Some of the first converts were able to relay the Christian message to their people. This article analyses this period of New France’s religious history, through the discourses produced by the missionaries’ letters narrating this spiritual encounter or the reactions to their discourses, or the converts’ reusage of the missionaries’ teachings.
