The subject of this article is the preventive strategies used by 84 HIV-positive women and men. Its originality lies in the fact that it gives a new look on prevention. This new manner of considering prevention is studied with concepts from symbolic interactionism and self-determination and person/environment dialectic. Results show that these strategies are articulated through a diversity of practices and situations. They also show that the concepts used can be helpful to the renewal of the prevention in HIV/AIDS domain. These results are pertinent because, even though HIV/AIDS is now less in the news, it is always present in the day-to-day life of the people.

Scepticism and politics appear to be antinomical terms, insofar as scepticism promotes no political positions and politics defines itself as action guided by ideals rather than by irresolution and the suspension of judgement. In this context, the Brissot de Warville case has all the characteristics of a paradox, since Brissot presented himself, by turns, as a radical sceptic and a political agitator devoted to the revolutionary cause. This article aims to understand his various positions, from his adoption in a youthful manuscript of a universal Pyrrhonism intended to break with the reasonable Pyrrhonism generally favoured during the Enlightenment, to an uncompromising political engagement that appears to oppose the convictions of his youth. The Brissot case aside, this spectacular reversal shows how an extreme Pyrrhonism was quite simply untenable during the eighteenth century, and how the sociohistorical and political conditions of the time influenced a redefinition of scepticism in particular and philosophy in general. As a result, the philosopher gradually assumed the position of the engaged intellectual and broke with ancient scepticism's indifference to the political process.
