AbstractA child of the 1970s and 1980s, “musique actuelle” has basked in the glow of its own halo for a number of years. Three women were part of its beginnings and continue to this day as incomparable musicians and administrators. Others, more “sound” artists than musicians, emerged at a crucial moment in the development of technology, particularly in the mid-1990s. A large number of these women turned to non-instrumental audio art, musique bruitiste, mixed media, experimental electronic music, installations, and multimedia. They were little known, neglected by major media producers, and the majority of musical teaching institutions—though a number of these women were educated by the latter. This article provides a window on these creative female personalities.

The latter are specific in that their value is highly uncertain, and socially constructed. Institutional spheres have long played the central prescriptive role as cognitive authorities. Thanks to new affordances of digital networks to foster visibility communities of consumers - who broadcast and share their views and comments - now contribute more and more to the production of commodity value. Meanwhile, lower entry barriers expand the circle of creators by including amateurs aiming to build their own reputation. Cultural and creative activity becomes a resource to construct one's personal value in digital space.

As the US presidential campaign is entering its final stage, Sens Public, in partnership with ilovepolitics.info, starts a series of weekly reviews of some of the best American books that are of great help to understand the determining aspects of the race to the White House. Until the November 4th election, each week, an article analysing a best-selling book, or one often referred to by the US political commentators, will be presented and put in a broader context. Each one of them focuses on an issue which is too often forgotten in the media turmoil generated by the campaigns. Those reviews intend to offer a better insight on the future of contemporary America.

The dental examination situation, for two and a half/three year old children is a peculiar one. In the present research, this situation has been adjusted in order to take into account two indépendant variables : the accompanying parent's sex and that of the examined child. The analysis shows differences in keeping with these two variables : when accompanied by their father the boys generally tend to be more subject to anxiety whereas the girls appear more cooperative. When accompanied by their mother, the boys are in most cases, more secure and the girls show more interest in play-activities.
