High school differs from elementary school regarding the number of stakeholders involved with a single student. Thus, in high school, special needs teachers must work even more closely with these stakeholders to promote the educational success of as many students as possible. The aim of this article is to describe the collaborative practices of special needs teachers in high schools and to document the facilitators and obstacles to this collaboration. To this end, focus groups were conducted with 12 special needs teachers. The results show that special needs teachers play a pivotal role in collaboration. They support the school principal with inclusion issues, maintain communication with parents, and support teachers in meeting the diverse needs of their students.

This article examines how parents’ and adolescents’ perceptions of parental solicitation and control can be used to predict academic achievement and engagement. Hierarchical regressions on 133 parent-child dyads (66% girls; mean age: 16.88 years) indicate that adolescents’ perceptions of parental control are significantly related to their academic engagement and achievement, in contrast to perceived solicitation, which is only marginally related to engagement. Parents’ perceptions of their monitoring strategies, however, do not predict adolescents’ academic functioning. Thus, it would be important to consider adolescents’ perceptions of parental monitoring in interventions aimed at improving academic functioning in high school students.

This qualitative case study aims to investigate the concept of multifunctionality in agriculture based on the theoretical framework of Wilson (2007, 2009). The case studied is the Maria-Chapdelaine regional county municipality, in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean administrative region, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. Individual and group research interviews, participant observations, as well as a literature review were performed during 2023-2024. Our results suggest a good recognition of the multiple functions of agriculture by the participants. On the other hand, most feel they need to increase their knowledge on the subject. The concept of multifunctionality in agriculture proved to be difficult to grasp for several respondents, which complicated the identification of functions. We suggest that future research uses a methodological approach that is as non-prescriptive as possible to facilitate the identification of diverse functions.

The Quebec Federation of Community Organizations has identified significant challenges related to the recruitment and retention of qualified workers in Family resource centres (FRCs). Inspired by community-based participatory research, this study seeks to better understand the work contexts in which employees in these centres evolve. Three main issues affecting work in FRCs were identified (i.e. underfunding, recruitment and retention difficulties, and lack of knowledge and recognition of FRC work), along with six work conditions that promote retention. The results provide insight into the structural conditions in which FRCs operate which contribute to workforce casualization.

Before the modernization of agriculture and slaughtering processes in Quebec, the value of animal hides from livestock was enhanced through tanning to produce various types of leather. This industry has since declined, resulting in the rendering of many slaughterhouse hides. While this process allows for terminal value enhancement, it falls short of the ecological and economic potential of hides in the leather and biomaterial sectors. This article is a descriptive analysis of the evolution of hide value enhancement practices in Quebec, based on historical and governmental sources. Furthermore, it discusses innovation perspectives in this field, including eco-responsible tanning processes, evolution of the agricultural production method, and alternate leather products. From a circular economy perspective, where resource optimization at every stage of the life cycle is essential, hides from Quebec slaughterhouses appear to remain underused.

Research providing a descriptive overview of the profile of incarcerated women remains scarce. This article fills part of this gap by analyzing the profile of women convicted and incarcerated in French-speaking Belgium between 2019 and 2021 (N=1,048). Based on a quantitative descriptive methodology, the study relies on the systematic examination of prison files to collect demographic, social, judicial, and offense-related information that led to incarceration. The results paint a picture of women in their mid-thirties, of Belgian nationality, and mothers. They also have criminal records and are sentenced to short terms, mainly for property offenses committed as co-offenders. Their trajectories reveal multiple vulnerabilities characterized by socio-economic precariousness, dysfunctional social relationships, and mental health and substance abuse problems. Adopting an intersectional approach makes it possible to move beyond an individualized reading of these vulnerabilities and to view female delinquency as the product of interdependent disadvantages resulting  from a process of marginalization. This perspective contributes to a nuanced understanding of women's pathways and highlights t.he importance of tailored support, while paving the way for future initiatives that address the convergence of multiple vulnerabilities.
