This article presents a synthesis of a survey conducted on-line to learn about the perspective of social workers from Quebec regarding voluntary euthanasia (VE) and assisted suicide (AS). The results corroborate listed studies where social workers reports being in favor of both practices. The respondents, however, expressed a higher consideration for VE than for AS. They insist that appropriate care must be accessible to people in the first place. So if the VE or AS would be allowed by the law, the respondents wishes that criteria's would be put in place to set boundaries around those practices. The difficulties social workers encounter in their practice concerning the requests of VE or AS can be summarized by the difficulty to intervene in certain contexts of suffering and end of life.

This paper examines an approach through which psychological pedagogy and the didactics of languages use common conceptual tools : the intentionalist approach. The author describes the main lines of a didactic research project on formative observation of language classes practisice, suggesting some hypotheses regarding the intentionality of the teacher as a way to manage complex learning/teaching situations, heterogeneous teaching styles, the « decision complex », the phenomenon of « encapsulation » of didactic intentionality.

The article examines how the French territorial reforms of 2014 and 2015, which strengthened the Metropolises, are accompanied by a discursive repositioning of municipal institutional publications. The analysis of municipal newspaper editorials highlights the emergence of three municipal communication strategies. Whether they are "defensive and protective", "entrepreneurial" or "appropriative" , these strategy trends serve the legitimacy and normalization of the municipal political capacity to act, which is undermined by the government emergence of Metropolises and lead to a communicational disharmony on metropolitan territory.

This text is based on ethnographic fieldwork carried out in the sleep disorders unit of the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris. At night, a team of nurses watches over computers: the screens show live videos and electrophysiological tracings of patients with sleep pathologies. We propose to explore the caregivers' strategies of staying awake, as well as their techniques of looking, listening, and paying attention to this local community of sleepers. As they read the signs of sleep, “another kind of care” takes shape, made of knowledge and skills passed on in situ, as well as a sensitivity and solidarity attached to the nocturnal space-time.

Quebec universities are experiencing an upsurge in students with disabilities (SWD), which creates pressure on internship supervisors. Although most supervisors know that these students need support, they are unaware of the measures and legal obligations in place to ensure that SWD have the same opportunities for success as their peers. While some studies focus on supervisors' observations of the challenges faced by SWD, very few examine the views of SWD about the kind of support they need to meet the challenges of their practicums. This observation led us to seek out the voices of SWD through a questionnaire. The analysis of the data highlights that these students experience challenges similar to those of many of their colleagues without disabilities, but which seem amplified by challenges specific to their condition. The analysis also highlights the need for students to be supported by supervisors who are open to differences, providing an atmosphere of safety for discussing challenges and for working together to identify the actions to be taken to ensure a successful internship.

Research framework: This article presents an analysis of Hydro-Québec residential customers’ responses which asked them to evaluate their household’s situation in terms of various environmental practices, eco-citizenship commitments and other aspects that distinguish their situation from that of other households. Objectives: To examine whether the occasional or regular practice of actions that can reduce electricity consumption is linked to others eco-citizenship practices. Also, to describe the differences in the integration of these actions into routines and habits, according to the situation of the participant and their household during the stages of adulthood and residential, family and economic trajectories. Methodology: A multivariate, factorial and classification tree analyses of data from an Internet survey with a probabilistic sample of over 2,200 participants. Results: In Quebec, electricity-saving practices are statistically linked to water-saving practices, and not to other practices aimed at reducing the harmful effects of consuming material goods. The environmental practices studied generally appear to be more integrated into the daily lives of retired households, and less practised among younger people who work, or living with children or teenagers. Conclusions: The conclusions underline the value of tracking electricity-saving practices when dressing an overall portrait of eco-citizenship actions. They also discuss our ongoing qualitative study as part of an extension of this research. Contribution: The article provides a global representation of variations in the practice of the most common environmental actions, paying particular attention to the stages of adulthood and the presence of spouses and children of different ages in the household.

In the context of protection, legal structures and guidelines delimit, and sometimes restrict, institutional practitioners. The literature on well-being at work suggests, however, that one factor may mitigate the challenges associated with the protection system: practitioners' sense of empowerment. Our study aims to explore how they experience their own empowerment at work. Nine semi-structured interviews were conducted with a team of practitioners specializing in the transition to adulthood. The results suggest that automatisms linked to the protection system are at odds with the development of the practitioners' empowerment, whereas the practitioners' empowerment is linked to a (re)connection with their relational schemas. In this context, the team becomes a pole of power between the institutional structure and the individual. However, maintaining the right conditions for the development of empowerment requires more team supervision and organizational support.

This article raises the question of consistency of preschool curricular orientations in Quebec kindergarten programs. A lexicometrical content analysis was completed on a corpus of texts from the current preschool education program cycle and the previous programs intended for 4 year-old and 5 year-old children (Gouvernement du Québec, 2001 ; 2017 ; 2020). The findings reveal opposition between the latter two curricula, attributed respectively to reconstructionist and progressivist ideologies. Additionally, the current kindergarten program is more specific about the behavioral expectations toward teachers and children.

Myths of the Market. It is often argued that markets produce efficient outcomes only if governments and regulators stay out of trying to affect market outcomes. I consider two paradigmatic cases of supposed market innovations in the US : the rise of the shareholder value conception of the firm and the creation of Silicon Valley. I show that neither of these market phenomena can be understood outside of the social and political context that generated them. The US government aided the 1980s merger movement that produced the « shareholder value » conception of firm by suspending the antitrust laws and providing a large tax cut to firms that allowed them to engage in mergers. In the case of Silicon Valley, the government underwrote research, the training of engineers, and was the main consumer for many innovative products at their origin. The government helped create the internet and funded the research of engineers that led to many of the programming breakthroughs that made the internet possible. States and markets are inextricably linked. Entrepreneurs are important, but they rely heavily on states to create the conditions whereby the profitable exploitation of a product is possible.
