The experience of the Hautes- Chaumes du Forez Geographical Information System underlines many conceptual and organizational issues relating to the elaboration of an environmental G.I.S. project on a specific territory. Such problems are due to the information diversity, but also to the difficulty to state precisely each responsibility between technical, scientific and political choices that are to be made at every stage of the project development. The first step, the database realization, is a mainly technical work. The second step, based on sensitivity and suitability analysis, can not be carried out without a permanent dialog between political and scientific actors. The third step, modeling and elaboration of scenarios of evolution, requires clear and precise political choices.

Patina is above all a question of time, which explains why it gives to the objects a semiotic surface where imprints of their uses are recorded, that is to say, the traces of the previous and successive enunciations of the objects. So, patina is a part of a figurative memory of objects, because, as verbal discourse does with language, the enunciations of objects modify them, and these modifications are embedded into their own material structure, which keep them in “ memory ”. This memory, when binding objects in a kind of material tradition, projects systems of values which are motivations of their coexistence : the memory which is inscribed in the patina becomes their collective memory, which is the first step to “ inter-objectivity ”. But, to be allowed to speak of “ inter-objectivity ”, we must first speak of “ objects ”, that is to say, of “ actants ”. And it becomes obvious that the patina, by giving them a layer heavy with values and memory, convert them into full-fledged actants. This “ competence ” is not only a semantic one (the semantic values which are embedded into the material structure by uses), but it is also a modal one, because the patina and the wear, induce on the surface of objects constraints and tendencies, shapes and orientations which are imposed to users and which change the use itself.

This paper proposes a reflection on what is specific to the online fieldwork or in qualitative research about electronic communications. Discussing the argument that the Internet is a new and actually different context for fieldwork, the author argues that it is not so much the context itself that is different, and would requires methodological innovation, but rather the looks worn on the context and commodification of cyberspace as a parallel universe, disconnected from « Real Life ». This led several authors to assume that the electronic environment was radically different, justifying the needs for methodological innovation. The author stresses that the reflections on the context of investigation are routinely ignoring the diversity and plurality of objects of study related to this context, as well as the multiplicity of approaches and positions of discipline found in this research field. She also stresses the need to distinguish the context of the investigation and the object of research to better understand the characteristics different types of approaches.

This article addresses the issue of the relationship between qualitative and quantitative analysis (i.e. computerized analysis of textual data) through experiments (and their results) conducted in a research project focusing on the impact of biological knowledge on French literary work in the XIXth century (Biolographes: http://biolog.hypotheses.org). The first part sets out the practical aspects of digital corpora, from access to the texts, to their transformation by OCR, to the storage of their metadata. The second and third parts illustrate how textometrical tools and visualizations (TXM, TreeCloud) serve as a point d'appui to many working hypotheses. In conclusion, the article emphasizes the role played by NLP in computerized tools for literary analysis.

Supervised access and custody exchange services (SACES) allow the parent-child relationship to evolve in a neutral and safe environment. Families in these services generally have one thing in common: they need to be supported, listened to, and protected, including by trained workers who ensure the smooth running of supervised contacts. There is little scientific literature documenting practices in SACES that is provided to families coming from the Superior Court or subjected to a voluntary or mediation agreement. Using data collected through an electronic questionnaire, this study presents the views of 50 respondents supervising or administering SACES services in which custody exchanges and supervised access take place. Respondents commented on the nature of the work being done in SACES resources, the strengths and challenges of the service, areas for improvement, and their perceptions of the justice system. Results showed respondents are comfortable in their role and identify several service strengths, but that funding can sometimes represent some challenges for them.
