The first aim of this study was to observe, based on established research, the teaching practices for developing the phonological awareness of pre-reading students. The second aim was to determine whether these vary according to the students’ socio-economic background. These practices were observed in real class situations with kindergarten students in priority education areas (i.e., least advantaged areas) or in standard areas. An observation grid was used to record the activity, the phonological unit, and the support modalities. The results indicate that teachers favour simple tasks, accessible units, and less effective modalities. The use ineffective modalities appears to be more pronounced in priority education areas than in standard areas.

Based on the concept of "Indigenous Futurism" (Dillon, 2012), I will examine 3 animated adaptations of legends: Little Thunder (2009) by Nance Ackerman and Alan Syliboy, adapted from mi-kmaq legends; Inuit tale Lumaajuuq (2010) created by Alathea Arnaquq-Baril; and SGaana Mountain (2017) created by Christopher Auchter and inspired from haïda legend and myths. I propose to think about the challenges and benefits of animation in order to show that Indigenous arts here becomes the stepping stone to survivance (Vizenor, 1994; 1998) on the one hand, resurgence (Simpson, 2013; 2016; 2017) on the other hand. My hypothesis is that these three short films underlie a decolonial attitude, thanks to their texture and audio as well as their futuristic overtures: they become amplifications of the tradition brought to us orally through the legends, and they sit in their own right within the large constellation of Indigenous works that triggers an insatiable desire to learn more.

In this study, we set out to explore the impact of the Spanish “indignant” movement on Belgian French-language literature. In his fresco Barcelona! (2015), in addition to paying tribute to the Ciudad condal, Grégoire Polet not only depicts the plurality of Catalan society, but also multiplies points of view on the ever-widening divide between the rich and the disenfranchised, as the pro-independence current gradually reawakens. In his novel Pour avoir de l’espoir, faudrait du temps (2016), Pierre Orban recounts the chaotic professional trajectories of a young Belgian-Spaniard, recently settled in the Spanish capital, and her family, in a country vibrating to the sound of 15-M. As for Nicolas Ancion, it is through a thriller entitled Invisibles et remuants (2015) that he describes the consequences of the bursting of the real estate bubble in a country hitherto presented as a model of economic success, but where indignant citizens have decided to react.

At the beginning of the sixteenth century, French is not a national language. This article studies the phases of the evolution of the French language towards the homogeneity that will prevail at the beginning of the seventeenth century. The idea of a single French language, around the year 1525, is in a context of competition with Latin and French dialects; yet it becomes the political instrument of the royal power which uses the French language in order to reinforce itself and the unity of the French nation. Paradoxically, the development of the French language throughout the rediscovery of its national roots will also lead to the new emergence of political as well as linguistic regional identities.

The boom in service quality assessment measures in Quebec’s public health and social services establishments has contributed to increase the requirements for professional staff. Inspired by management methods derived from private enterprise, these measures are based on the New Public Management principles and are operationalized through a managerial ideology placing the quality of services at the heart of institutional discourse. The consequent adoption by social workers of a linguistic register inscribed in this discourse is not without impacting their practices and the very essence of social work, which includes an important political dimension. This article aims to illustrate how this discourse becomes propagandist when it masks the deleterious effects of managerial and economic imperatives and thus undermines the transformative foundations of social work, reducing them to a conditioning and integrative perspective.
