This text presents the results of a research on proximity services carried out in six villages of the Fjord-du-Saguenay regional county municipality. The results are analyzed in relation to the social and territorial development. The links between devitalization and the maintenance of proximity services in rural municipalities are also highlighted. The situation of proximity services in the municipalities studied appears illustrative of other rural municipalities in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, and even in all regions of the province of Quebec.

This article describes the xDX project: Documenting, Linking, and Interpreting Canada’s Design Heritage. In 2019, the Design Exchange (DX), “Canada’s Design Museum,” deaccessioned its artefact collection and archival fonds to focus instead on public programming. The xDX Project is creating an open-data resource, the xDX ResearchSpace, to preserve the integrity of the former DX collection—now distributed across five institutions—and to support scholarship and public appreciation of modern Canadian design history. The authors propose that xDX’s dispersed artifacts and digital tools continue to facilitate object-oriented research, offering researchers, students, and publics the means to learn about and interrogate Canadian design history.

Weight-based bullying is frequently observed among high-school students. The objective of this study was to explore adolescents’ point of view on this phenomenon and on the strategies to counter it. To this end, focus group interviews were conducted with 19 adolescents, aged 14 to 17 years old. The interviews explored this specific type of bullying, the explanatory factors, the consequences, and the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of interventions strategies. The adolescents interviewed suggested that weight-based bullying is subtle and has significant consequences. They mentioned that strategies aiming at mobilizing adults and peers toward those who are bullied and at providing them with emotional support should be prioritized. However, sanctions and surveillance should be avoided.
