As of 1476, the printers of Lyons offered numerous translations to a public that did not master Latin well enough to access the classics or the scientific and religious works of the time. Thus, there are nearly 150 translation editions in Lyons for the fifteenth century, or one-tenth of the total production. This paper, which demonstrates the importance of the city in the production of translations of successful works and of more contemporary texts, examines the editorial choices of the printers of Lyons with regards to the production of translations. It also highlights the collaboration of printers with a local intellectual elite who carried out the translations or revised older ones. Attention to these little-known players allows in this way the emergence of coherent groups in the service of several printers.
