The demand for public service interpreting in France has been growing steadily since 1970, when ISM (Inter Service Migrants) Interprétariat, which remains the main service provider on the market today, began offering the service. Since 2015, the demand has continued to grow, except for a slight decline in 2020 due to the pandemic. However, public service interpreting is struggling to professionalize due to the lack of specific training and because the main languages of migration, apart from Arabic and English, are not those used by qualified interpreters.

In this paper we address the theme of the influence of ambidexterity and strategic flexibility on the export performance of SMEs in the context of emerging markets. Surveying a sample of 305 exporting Turkish SMEs, we test specific hypotheses concerning the respective roles of ambidexterity and strategic flexibility in directly affecting the export performance of the SME. We also test the mediating role of strategic flexibility in the relationship between ambidexterity and export performance. Our results show that ambidexterity has no direct influence on export performance. They further show that coordination flexibility and decision-making flexibility mediate the relationship between ambidexterity and export performance.

The goal of this paper is to discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the decentralized digital currencies in Africa, a region that serves as an incubator for innovations in the decentralized finance sector, but remains somewhat excluded from the field of academic research on these same issues. In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of the current state of the cryptocurrency market (particularly with regard to the categories and underlying technologies), this article relies on a SWOT analysis that draws some lessons and long-term perspectives while respecting the diversity of local and international concerns. It emerges that the popularity of the BASI-coins is built on a triple illusion: that of disintermediation, that of security and that of independence: miners remain essential, and oligopolies are being reconstituted in the cryptosphere which, from this point of view, does not differ from the traditional finance. In addition, even if the macro-financial framework of African countries seems de facto to lend itself to their adoption, it should be noted that their implementation requires addressing several challenges: both in terms of infrastructure (electricity/Internet access) and technology as well as institutional. Moreover, BASI-coins could compete with (future) sovereign digital currencies (Govcoins), and their widespread adoption could destabilize the financial systems due to pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

The starting point of this reflection is the current situation, which contrasts Occitan, a language ‘seriously endangered' or even ‘on the brink of extinction', with Catalan, which is not. This comparative approach to the fate of the Occitan and Catalan languages is based on the doubly dynamic and productive perspective of endangerment (no longer just as a fact but as a process) and, conversely, empowerment (as ‘will to master'), which relies on the agency of the social actors who are, individually and collectively, the speakers of a given language, including ‘endangered' ones. This paper shows how the evolution of the two sister languages in question intersected in the 19th century, in a kind of misunderstanding of the fraternization between a Mistralian Provence willing to ‘maintain' a tradition that would later fade, and a Catalonia laying the foundations for a political and cultural autonomization within the Spanish state that would, on the contrary, assert itself in the following century and right up to the present day.

This article explores the dynamics of international expansion among SMEs, focusing on the continuation of the internationalization process. Drawing on the Uppsala model and organizational learning theory, it examines how the success of an establishment and the experience gained influence the decision to expand further within the same region, specifically the MENA region. The study is based on a regression analysis of a sample of 124 French SMEs. The findings show that both the success of an initial international venture and prior international experience positively impact the intention to pursue additional expansion in the same geographic area. Furthermore, experience moderates the relationship between the success of a first establishment and the intention to re-enter the same region. Theoretically, this research extends existing models by highlighting the differentiated role of local versus international experience in the internationalization of SMEs. From a managerial perspective, it emphasizes the importance of adopting a contextualized strategy based on local learning, tailored human resources, and the development of partnerships rooted in the regional specificities of the MENA market. Thus, successful entry and relevant experience emerge as key drivers for sustaining and expanding SME internationalization within a specific region.

Les pieds sur terre et la tête dans les étoiles : l'ingenium en acte. Entretien avec Thierry Ardouin
More informationThe interview transcribed in this article was conducted with Thierry Ardouin, a great witness and actor in the history of training engineering in France. Through the evocation of his journey and his reflections, the aim here is to give an account of a singular journey, but also of the timely grasping of ingenium as a dynamic of analysis and action in the field of education and training science. “With our feet on the ground and our head in the stars” is the approach he proposes to us, in order to link this history to the current and future perspectives of a reflection that is still under construction on training engineering, driven by an ethical vigilance with regard to world movements.
