Sexual assaults involving children are one of the most serious kinds of aggression, but, despite the significant human and monetary resources available to police, some of these crimes remain unsolved. A non-discretionary perspective suggests that individuals who commit such crimes may adopt specific behaviors that increase their chances of avoiding detection. This study explores the role of an individual's choices and behavior (i.e., selecting victims who display certain characteristics, choosing particular kinds of places in which to commit crimes, the characteristics of the crime, and strategies adopted specifically to avoid arrest) on the resolution of the crime (i.e., solved or unsolved). The research is based on a sample of 309 cases of the rape of a child (200 solved and 109 unsolved) in France between 1982 and 2015. The sample was restricted to victims aged less than 16 years old who did not know their perpetrator at the time of the offense. Bivariate and multivariate analyses indicate that certain victim characteristics (e.g., victim was unsupervised), crime location characteristics (e.g., encounter, crime, and release of the victim took place at the same location), and offender behavior (e.g., range of sexual acts ; strategy of approach) affected whether or not the crime was solved by police. This study also shows that most child abusers do not use explicit strategies to avoid police detection. The theoretical and practical implications of understanding criminal behavior and criminal investigation are discussed.

This article presents an exhibition project, developed from research work, based on a transmedia perspective, developed in 2011, and focuses on social and gender inequalities in schools. Here we will evoke the logic of scientific mediation, which structures it (valorization of museum funds, reference to research, educational support), the journey of this exhibition, made up of several narrative elements, and contributions for the public.

Besoins et services en français en matière de sexopérinatalité chez les couples parentaux franco-ontariens

This article presents a portrait of perinatal sexual needs and services in French perceived by 67 francophone parental couples living in a minority linguistic situation in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. Couples have needs regarding information and support; sexuality is important for them and should be addressed during the perinatal period. However, the subject is rarely discussed with health care professionals, and very few sexoperinatal services are offered in the French language, even if the couples want them. The discussions on sexuality that do take place are primarily in English. This constitutes an additional hurdle for the majority of the couples.

This paper focuses on the representation of autism in children's and YA literature and on the translation of these texts. The first part focuses on the appearance of the first autistic characters in the 2000s and on their transformation into protagonists with a discursive agency. They first appeared in detective stories and contributed to a certain archetypal image of autism, which started to become more nuanced and diversified during the last decade: heroines emerged, as well as autistic people with significant cognitive and relational difficulties, and autistic characters were finally given love interests, in novels far from the detective genre. In order to render the poetics of strangeness present in these source works, translators adopt foreignizing translation strategies that challenge the long history of domestication and didacticism practiced when translating for young readers.
