An ethnobotanical study was conducted with the main socio-cultural groups on woody plants in the riparian lands of the Mono Biosphere Reserve in Benin which is newly created and recognized by the Unesco in 2017. This study aims to determine the wood species with high ethnobotanical value in order to provide to the managers, the plant species which need high priority of conservation and promotion in the reserve management. Ethnobotanical surveys were conducted in 26 surrounded villages of the reserve where 593 respondents from five socio-cultural groups were selected and interviewed individually using a structured questionnaire. For data analysis, the used organs frequency citation, the informant's consensus factor and the ethnobotanical use value of the species were calculated. A total of 101 woody species were identified and used in eight categories Elaeis guineensis, Ficus trichopoda, Diospyros mespiliformis, Azadirachta indica, Vitex doniana and Mitragyna inermis yielded high ethnobotanical use-values. Ethnobotanical use value differed significantly between socio-cultural groups (P<0.0001, df =4). This study highlights the woody species which should be promoted in tree planting at large scale and in home garden in order to improve their availability and contribute to their sustainable conservation around the reserve.

Like many watercourses close to urbanized areas in Brazil, the Passauna River and its reservoir supplying the city of Curitiba suffers from organic pollution due to growing anthropogenic pressure. However, a recent study has detected a surprising enrichment of the sediments by Pb (> 100 ppm) and Cr (> 200 ppm), despite this basin's protection against industrial pollution. The objective of this study was to assess the reality of this pollution and to understand the nature of the polluting sources. Measurements of trace metals were performed in water and sediments sampled in this basin, using trace-metal clean techniques and supplemented by grain-size and total organic carbon (TOC) analysis for sediments samples. The interpretation of the results has been supported by the calculation of contamination indexes (Enrichment Factor, Geo-accumulation Index) and the use of statistical analysis tools (correlation, PCA). This work showed that a former municipal landfill, located along the bank of the river, had a light and localized impact on the sediments with Cu, Pb and Zn. No impact with Pb has been recorded in the rest of the study area, but a geogenic source explaining the enrichment of superficial sediments with Cr has been detected in the lower part of the river and entrance of the reservoir.

ABSTRACTThe realm of ethnopsychiatry also includes the cultural dimension of chaos (and the ways of overcoming this chaos) and the analysis of psychic foundations. This original method deals with the "complementarity" between psychoanalysis and anthropology. In doing so, it establishes a new link between the clinician and the patient, between traditional therapies and modern treatments, between the outside (culture) and the inside (psyche). This approach can be successfully applied to the context of migration, particularly to the child who is torn between the culture of his parents and the culture of the host nation.

AbstractAssessment of the implementation of an innovative experience: network of integrated services for the elderly in the Bois-Franc region Conscious of problems related to coordination of services for the elderly on its territory, the working group on health and social services of the Bois-Francs in the Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec regions implemented in February 1997, after two years of planning, a new coordination model of services for the frail elderly. This model is innovative because it combines the unique entry, case management, individualized services plan as well as the presence of three levels of concertation : strategic, tactical and clinical. The model also has the characteristic of offering comprehensive services to the elderly. This article describes the major results of an assessment of the implementation and process of this model. This assessment aimed at documenting the activities and functions of the coordination mecanism of services in order to see to what extent the model implemented and its functionning is close or not to the one proposed and this, in a perspective of bringing the necessary adjustments. The major results on clientele reached, various functions of a team of case managers and organization of work are discussed in the light of other studies on coordination of services for frail older people. Suggestions regarding these results and those pertaining to efficiency and cost in another study are made in order to improve the efficiency of the model. Many components of this new model could be applied to other clientele.

AbstractDespite advances in psychopharmacology for people with schizophrenia, many patients remain too disabled to be discharged from public psychiatric facilities. This paper decribes the development of a public-private partnership which led to the creation of a specialized, intensive behavioral rehabilitation program for schizophrenia patients who were considered to be treatment-refractory at public hospitals. The essential elements of this treatment program are described, along with the philosophical bases of its treatment. Outcome data are discussed to emphasize the point that when evidence-based treatment is implemented with this population, outcomes can be positive in most cases, and therefore, the number of « treatment-refractory » patients is actually less than is estimated based on response to medication alone.

The collection of informations from pastors on various continents reveals a gap between the theological training provided in places of preparation for pastoral ministry and the realities experienced once in the field. The aim of this article is to propose ways of solutions to reduce this difference as much as possible. From of a sociological, theological and biblical rereading of the challenges encountered by pastors of various Christian denominations in Africa as well as of the common minimum program of the license in theology of the council of theological institutions of French-speaking Africa, we propose principles allowing to offer a theological formation preparing to the exercise of the pastoral ministry which is in adequacy with the realities of the churches in Africa.

SummaryIn the context of a study on the overall film industry in Canada conducted in 1964 for the Canadian government, O. J. Firestone dedicated a chapter to problems specific to Quebec. This article thus is concerned with factors which are particular to quebec such as bilingualism, cultural differences due to the french-speaking character of the province, laws specific to the Quebec provincial government and different economic factors. The author outlined specific characteristics with regard to the distribution of films, with regard to the actual production as well as with regard to the clearly specific role of television. The reader will find the unabridged text of the eighth chapter of Firestone's study on the left-hand side of the page ; on the right-hand side the editor in collaboration with the Conseil québécois pour la diffusion du cinéma has brought Firestone's data up to date.

Objectives Based on clinical experience and literature, this article aims to stimulate reflection among the actors involved concerning the organization of services and the interventions to be favored with young people living both a first episode of psychosis and a situation of residential instability or homelessness. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the literature on the situation of these young people and their needs, the challenges they face in their pathway within the healthcare system and the various interventions to consider with them both to prevent or exit homelessness.Method This literature review presents a narrative synthesis of articles from literature reviews or primary studies published in French or English between 1995 and March 2021, with a focus on the services and intervention practices implemented in Quebec in recent years. Certain interventions can be made at different periods of time in a young person's journey to change their trajectory and prevent homelessness or limit its duration and consequences. Throughout this article, a case study will illustrate these interventions occurring at different times in the life of a young person. Results The risk of residential instability and homelessness in young people living with emerging psychosis is higher than in the general population. This situation can contribute to the onset or worsening of psychosis due to the stress associated with difficult living conditions and the increased possibilities of victimization experiences. This great precariousness can also be the consequence of psychosis and its associated conditions. However, very few studies focus specifically on young people experiencing both a first episode of psychosis and a situation of homelessness or residential instability. The instability associated with homelessness complicates their pathway to mental health care, delays their access to the appropriate services and interferes with their engagement in follow-up. Interventions aimed at preventing homelessness include support in the transition to adulthood and identifying situations of residential instability. Regarding the organization of care, integrated mental health service centers for young people and the development of partnerships, networking and intersectorality make it possible to overcome certain challenges. Intensive outreach interventions models as well as interventions aiming residential stability are favorable to young people who are already experiencing homelessness. Conclusion Residential instability and homelessness imply several challenges faced by young people living with emerging psychosis concerning the access, the continuity and the quality of mental health services. Integrated interventions both to prevent or exit homelessness can be implemented to stem this problem.
