The COVID-19 pandemic took everyone by surprise, whether it was the job market or other areas, the impacts were decisive for everyone. However, in this research, we observe that not only did teleworking as an organizational change experience a rapid advancement, but also, the positive impacts were felt really and concretely in people's professional and personal lives. The literature already offers a range of articles demonstrating the issues, advantages, and history of this work concept, but none studies the human worker in this context. The central topic aims to place the achievement of teleworkers at the heart of the key elements of this organizational change in order to measure the favorable or unfavorable impacts towards it. Thus, the analysis of the results aims to demonstrate through several aspects such as remuneration, job performance, professional ambitions of teleworkers, work-family-personal life balance, self-realization, sense of belonging, career advancement, and daily motivation, if the population in Quebec considers teleworking as an accelerator to their personal and professional fulfillment. The results demonstrate that there is a strong link between this unforeseen and forced organizational change. People express great satisfaction in including this new mode of work in their daily lives and wish to be able to maintain it in the near future.

Bullying in primary schools is a concern, especially for students with special needs. Despite the implementation of preventative programmes, teachers are lacking intervention strategies. This review focuses on teachers’ interventions in bullying situations experienced by students with special needs and their effects on bullying and victimization rates. Four databases were searched for a total of 417 articles. Ten of these articles (2008 to 2019) were selected and none report results specific to students with special needs. Teachers prioritize strategies that are not supported by research, such as punishment. The results are discussed in relation to research and real-live needs.

In recent years, the role of culture in education has increasingly attracted attention. A growing number of researchers are exploring the use of cultural mechanisms in the classroom and the role of teachers as cultural mediators. Despite this, we found no research on the role of culture in adult education in general or common core basic education in particular. This article presents results of our research on the role of culture in curricula and textbooks used by students in adult education. We analyzed curricula and textbooks offered to students at an adult education centre in Quebec, in order to define cultural concepts and the role of culture in these centres.

This article is a discussion the sociodemographic situation of parents from disadvantaged rural backgrounds who have child attending a childcare center (Centre de la petite enfance or CPE), and compares them with parents from disadvantaged urban backgrounds. Descriptive and quantitative analyses were carried out on 242 parents from these types of disadvantaged backgrounds. Results showed that families from disadvantaged rural areas were more likely to be two-parent families, to have three children, to speak French and English, to have given birth in Quebec and to be Caucasian, compared to families from disadvantaged urban areas. However, they were less likely to have a university degree. These results seem to indicate a shift in the characteristics of rural families.

This article introduces the Special Edition devoted to Canadian higher education administration and administrators. It situates its contributing articles within the context of the dominant themes noticed in the extant research literature: neo-liberal and managerial shifts, gender and race career asymmetries, macro- and micro-politics, and professional identities; and highlights their salient contributions. It identifies some of the confusion around the specificity of higher education administration and presents a definition that clarifies how administration differs from management, leadership, and governance, as well as circumscribes the role of academic and career administrators in relation to those of administrative staff members. The article closes with recommendations for future research.

This paper examines the post-secondary pathways of thirteen young people who were put under foster care services in Que-bec and who benefited from a philanthropic project designed to support their academic pathways and their transition to adult life. By highlighting identity tensions, this paper aims to understand how these young people experienced their integration into the post-secondary environment, while dealing with an injunction to adulthood. The analysis of individual interviews highlights three tensions at the heart of their identity construction as post-secondary students with a foster care background: a first tension between desired social ascension and assigned stigma, a second tension between the desire to be autonomous and dependency on the philanthropic program, and a third tension between perceived academic potential and experienced pressure.

As the Canadian Journal of Higher Education celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, this article takes the measure of the researchpublished so far on higher education administration and reflects on future work. The study examined the 38 articles on highereducation administration published by the Journal between 1971 and 2020 to characterize how administration has been investigated and theorized since the Journal’s inception. The article discusses the topics that have captured the attention of scholars and the frameworks and methods they selected for their investigations. Overall, the body of work published by the Journal in its first 50 years of existence paints a nuanced portrait of higher education administration where administrators appear simultaneously powerless and powerful. The article suggests promising areas of inquiry based on its findings and discusses implications for editors, reviewers, and authors.

Using a descriptive approach, this article aims to describe parents’ experiences supporting their children with diverse needs in elementary or high school. Based on a network analysis of responses to an electronic survey completed by 408 parents, the main results revealed that the number of diagnoses reported by some parents in response to their child’s needs is significant, ranging from two to seven. Furthermore, though most parents say that they are generally satisfied with the support their child receives at school, others reported communication difficulties with school stakeholders. These findings raise questions about the persistence of the medicalization of children's difficulties and how demobilizing this approach can be for parents regarding the support they provide to their children.

The majority of studies on the student-teacher relationship (TSR) have been conducted mainly with primary and secondary students. Studies of post-secondary students are much less numerous, despite the importance of the impact the TSR can have on them. The goal is to explore the scientific literature that focuses specifically on the measurement of the TSR in order to identify the relevant assessment tools for the post-secondary context. The results show that the majority of researchers use self-reported questionnaires to measure the concept of TSR. However, there is no consensus on how to operationalize this concept. For some authors, TSR is a multidimensional construct, while others suggest the possibility of a two-dimensional or even a one-dimensional construct.

This research focuses on the didactic interactions between a teacher and their students about fractions and proportions in the context of calculating energy performance in a science and technology classroom at the Secondary IV level. The analysis of interactions is done according to the didactic incidents that most often emerge from the students’ errors. The analysis also identifies the assistance provided to pupils according to the types of proximity as well as certain effects of the didactic contract. Our results indicate that the mobilization and use of fractions and proportions in the context of calculating the energy efficiency of a machine is not self-evident for students and influences didactic interactions when teaching and learning this concept.
