Over the past two decades, scientific research on mindfulness has taken on unprecedented proportions, exponentially multiplying its fields of application and the number of publications. In a historical context in which the development of mindfulness in North America consistently takes place on the border between the spiritual and the secular, this article questions the modes of engagement employed by psychology researchers regarding the subject of mindfulness. In examining the social, moral and epistemological approaches at work in this science of mindfulness, analysis shows that it is intersected by tension between scientific justification and moral acceptance. This emerges via discourse that promotes, on the one hand, the scientific record as a register of justification and, on the other hand, the consideration of the existential, experiential and moral nature of mindfulness practices.

Logical realism is undoubtedly one of the central features which characterize many of the major works in Austrian philosophy from Bolzano to Husserl. Although this remark is true, as we believe, one must not forget the fact that some of the key concepts of Austrian philosophy are rooted in theories that reject realist principles. As an example, take the concept of state of affairs in Austrian philosophy, and more specifically, Franz Brentano's conception of judgement contents. By showing the motives which led Brentano to introduce these judgement contents and by analyzing the arguments given to support his thesis, the present article aims to contrast the initial remark by illustrating, by means of the case of state of affairs, how the interrelations between realist and nominalist positions have shaped the development of Austrian philosophy.

In this study, we asked mayors and deputies (n =141) of coastal towns (n =39) spread over 4 French geographical areas (Atlantic Ocean coast, Languedoc-Roussillon, Manche and Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur) to draw a map of their municipality. Participants were asked to perform two verbal association tasks designed to explore their representations of the coastal part of their municipality. The analysis of verbal association (hierarchical clustering analysis and similarity analysis) reveals three types of anchoring for theses representations. Based on these various anchors, we identify three subgroups of elected representatives. The analysis of the drawings contents shows that according to the anchor of their representation of coastal territory, the participants do not produce the same types of drawings. This research validates the hypothesis of a link between social and spatial representations, and their translation into iconography. Ultimately, this research proposes an original methodology to study the social meanings assigned to territories.
