Easy Internet access has a major impact on pornography use. However, some people may have difficulty managing their use, leading to potential adverse outcomes in their daily lives. Since problematic use of pornography is a recent phenomenon, psychologists, sexologists, and mental health workers are not always equipped to respond effectively to this problem. How can we understand, assess, and address this problematic? The objective of this article is to report current scientific knowledge on problematic use of pornography, on documented evaluation methods, treatments, interventions, and clinical approaches in order to guide professionals on how to better intervene with clients struggling with this problematic.

The aim of this review is to sum up the recommended clinical practices that promote therapeutic alliance in interventions conducted with ethnocultural minority adolescents in mandatory intervention settings (child welfare, juvenile justice, psychiatry). The analysis of the results stemming from the 32 selected articles allows to list practices that can be organised around knowledge, dispositions and skills. The analysis also brings to light important methodological biases in studies on the topic, as well as an absence of empirical support for the practices. Directions for clinical practice and future research are proposed.

Little is still known about the mentalizing capacities of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) survivors. This study is aimed at measuring and describing the mentalizing capacities of 30 adult CSA survivors using an interview discussing disclosure of experiences as coded by the Trauma-Specific Reflective Functioning Scale. Forty percent of the sample presented mentalizing failures in relation to discussions of trauma, 33 % had low mentalizing abilities and 28 % had good mentalizing abilities. Specific examples of mentalizing manifestations were identified. These results will help researchers and clinicians better understand the mechanisms through which survivors respond and adapt to trauma.

This qualitative study aims to better grasp the lived experience of refugees in Quebec. Fourteen refugees from the Montreal region participated in semi-structured interviews. The narratives were obtained and analyzed following an interpretative and phenomenological analysis (IPA) approach (Smith et Osborn, 2003). Analysis revealed three central themes: a temporality with no escape, a relation to the self between rupture and continuity and a relation to the world between dignity and exclusion. The results are interpreted through humanist, systemic and transcultural lenses and draw on writings on the phenomenology of suffering. The article concludes on contributions and on clinical implications.

The purpose of this article is to initiate a discussion on the relational ethics for research involving refugees. The reflection is based on the analysis of the discourses of refugees' who took part in a larger study on the lived experience of being a refugee in Quebec, in a phenomenological perspective. In the context of that study, participants were questioned about their experience of taking part in the research project. The final interpretation is integrated to an intersubjective analysis of the dynamics between the researcher and the participants. The analysis reveals various forms of exchange that occur during research interviews as well as the value of self-protection. The interpretation is then discussed in relation to the notions of reciprocity, reflexivity and equity.

Following a request from Médecins du Monde, we conducted a participatory research to better understand the reality of caregivers providing care to migrants with precarious status (PMSP)1. Caregivers were interviewed in focus groups (n = 12) and in-depth interviews (n = 8) to explore the specificities of their practice and the impact on their mental health. Their comments were analysed from a critical phenomenological perspective, which revealed: 1) the challenges of this practice in light of the institutional and political constraints in place; 2) the psychological consequences of contact with the distress of PMSP. Our results are analysed in light of the influence of structural determinants of health affecting the daily reality of PMSPs and, by extension, that of caregivers working with this population. This article contributes to the French-language literature on public health by exploring the challenges associated with qualitative research among marginalised populations subject to social inequalities.

This research investigates the implications of family dynamics on the financing of women's entrepreneurship. Drawing on family script theory, it analyzes how familial legacy, in its extra-financial symbolic dimension, influences entrepreneurs' funding requests. Narrative interviews conducted with 41 women entrepreneurs reveal that the family is the source of legacies related to factors such as the family's financial condition, financial management practices, discourses on money, and cultural and sexist influences, which shape entrepreneurs' approach to financing. Three types of family scripts are identified: replicative, corrective, and integrative, which lead entrepreneurs either toward seeking external funding or favoring self-financing. By addressing these underexplored aspects, this research enriches the understanding of the challenges surrounding the financing of women's entrepreneurship.

Research Framework : In contemporary China, the ultra-competitive education system leads middle-class parents to invest time, money and energy to obtain the best educational resources and ensure their child’s success. Objectives : In an authoritarian context where the middle class is often seen as a supporter of the ruling party-state, I show that defending the children’s interests leads middle-class parents to take an interest in education policies in particular, and to denounce decisions that seem unfair to them.Methodology : I carried out an empirical investigation for over eight months in Nanjing (PRC) in 2018, during which I conducted 37 formal interviews with parents. I also observed interactions between parents and educational establishments (public and private). This empirical investigation is complemented by online monitoring of legislative developments, opinion debates and the parenting blogosphere. Results : I observed how participation in online discussion groups, following educational news, and monitoring their child’s educational activities lead to the emergence of a political consciousness among middle-class parents. This phenomenon encourages some parents to take action to defend their interests. Conclusions : The emergence of class consciousness among some parents transforms their relationship to politics, redefining the notion of justice, equality and conflict.Contribution : This research calls into question the passivity of the Chinese middle classes and the impact of parenthood on the political socialization of individuals.

This article explores the ethical and psychological complexities of supporting individuals in precarious situations, illustrated by the clinical case of Monsieur Tu'Er Ye, compounded by the announcement of a serious illness. Here, street outreach aims to revitalize his connection to others as well as his relationship with himself. The psychoanalytic approach serves to question aspects of social, medical, and administrative practices that appear inadequate in the context of this support. The article underscores the urgency of rethinking these approaches by integrating key concepts such as transference and countertransference, in order to provide a more suitable and acceptable form of care and support.
