This article presents a clinical posture for professional practices coaching. It explores how experiential knowledge is built and identifies a number of fundamental ethical markers which separate this posture from one of conveying disciplinary knowledge – notably the presence of the other, attention to situations that can appear insignificant at first glance, the educator’s self-confidence, which is related to accepting his own vulnerability, and mobilizing a shared intelligence to allow a unique understanding of situations. The article warns against overusing the expression “practice analysis” to avoid an epistemological jump caused by a clinical approach.

This article examines the fundamentals of using the autobiographical approach in intervention, by looking at the relationship between the facilitator and the participant. It first presents a modeled diagram based on a review from the field of knowledge. It then describes the use of the autobiographical approach in intervention with groups of seniors in rural Franco-Ontarian settings, within a Community Health Centre. Next, the posture of the facilitator-guide-therapist is explored. In the end, the authors conclude on the advantages of the autobiographical approach related to the creation of spaces for the expression of oneself and the redefinition of one's identity, the enhancement of the life story, the relations of reciprocity, and the absence of power relationship.

How can we help people to tell their own stories and to cope with particularly painful events ? In these troubling times, we can consider that people are on a journey, their identity(ies) migrate(s), on an existential journey (White, 1994 ; Denborough, 2014). Seeds of Dreams is a narrative and therapeutic boardgame created by Doria Roustan and I to guide people in these transitions, based on their resources, past experiences, values and allies.
