The purpose of this study is to investigate how an inter-organizational community of practice (IOCoP) manages the paradoxical effect between collaboration and competition. The literature highlights the potential of their logic for the development of collaborative innovation but do not explore the competition dynamic within theirs members. The analysis of an IOCoP composed by innovative startups in Brazil shows the reinforcement of internal regulations when new competing members integrate the community. Indirect and external modes of regulation are also expressed. Due to the complementarity of these regulatory modes, the IOCoP is seen as a facilitator for coopetition relationships.

The purpose of this article is to present the relational space of the psychiatric nurse, in a context of French language mental health services delivery in Ottawa, during the period of psychiatric deinstitutionalization. The case study of a Francophone patient with 26 years of follow-up care at the Montfort Outpatient Mental Health Clinic was selected as a sample. Over this psychiatric life-course, 63% of her encounters were with a nurse, 27% with psychiatrists, 5% with occupational therapists, 4% with social workers and 1% with psychologists. Among the different tasks documented by the nurses, six different types of intervention emerge. The case study, therefore, reveals that the nurse occupies a more significant relational space than that of the other professionals of the multidisciplinary team.

This article offers a synthetic and critical literature review on the learning pathways of young people who have interrupted their studies in France. The intent is to suggest ways to collect data in order to better understand their educational pathways. Based on this review and the life-course approach, we analyzed research on the school dropout trajectories of young middle and high school students. Our study leverages mixed methods and a longitudinal perspective to help pinpoint and evaluate the role of various events during and beyond the interruption period. The biographical studies, in conjunction with observations, contribute to a better understanding of the links between distinct forms of pathways and the unique, subjective experiences of the individuals concerned.

Recent research has developed the “social capital theory” to explain inequalities in the labour market. According to this theory, access to employment is determined in part by a candidate's network of social relations and affiliations. The aim of this paper is to examine the influence of social capital on job access, specifically in the Canadian context. We will examine to what extent social capital explains new postsecondary graduates' access to permanent employment. Using data from the 1995 National Graduates Survey conducted by Statistics Canada, we found that an individual's chances of obtaining permanent employment are significantly associated with mobilized social capital, and also with human capital (schooling, field of studies, experience) and other variables, particularly the sector of employment.

This study addresses the relations between emotional processing – according to the model of Dimensions of Openness to Emotions (DOE, Reicherts, 2007) – and the three components of burnout in a sample of university students. The results of linear regression analyses reveal that an important part of emotional exhaustion (according to Maslach's concept of burnout; Maslach & Jackson, 1986) can be predicted by the DOE factors, in particular Cognitive representation, Communication, and Regulation of Emotions. Parallels are drawn with studies postulating that personality factors play a role in the explanation of interpersonal differences in burnout symptoms. Results highlight the implication of emotional functioning in burnout, and provide a cross-validation of the three-dimensional structure of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) intended for students.
