Is it not a paradox to present the increasing extraction of critical and strategic minerals as essential to the common good in a context of ecological crisis? The aim of this article is to question the way in which the provincial government of Quebec and the mining industry justify the development of transitional mining projects. Based on a content analysis and reflections fostered by decolonial perspectives, this work proposes to think out or rethink these projects presented as essential to energy transition, and to question how nature is perceived in the narratives of the dominant actors. The concepts of nature coloniality, extractivism and colonial inhabitation are used to demonstrate that these narratives remain rooted in an inferiorized extractivist logic, reduced to natural resources to be exploited. These narratives perpetuate a destructive way of inhabiting the Earth. The decolonial approach reverses perspectives and delegitimizes these dominant narratives.

This article explores assessment practices that reduce or eliminate grading (PRÉN) in the Quebec college context, and their impact on students' mental health and motivation. These practices, in opposition to the use of grading, aim to support learning without the need for grades, which are often perceived as a source of stress and unfairness. PRÉNs encourages qualitative feedback rather than the simple assignment of grades. To describe PRÉNs and explore their impact, a systematic review of the literature is presented in this article. The result is 16 papers looking at practices that fit within the terminology of PRÉN. Some of the papers reviewed concluded that these practices would have a positive impact on students' intrinsic and autonomous motivation. However, the results concerning mental health are more nuanced, with some people experiencing stress linked to the absence of traditional reference marks such as grades. The study concludes that further research is needed to better understand the impact of these practices in the Quebec context, and their potential for the success and perseverance of college students.

Introduction: Nurses play an essential role in the detection and assessment of mental health issues. However, adopting best assessment practices in mental health remains challenging for primary care nurses (PCN). Objectives: This article presents a study protocol aimed at evaluating the acceptability and the perceived effects of a training program prototype to enhance the adoption of best practices in mental health assessment by PCNs. Additionally, the study explores the feasibility of involving PCNs clinical supervisors in the training process. Methods: The 6-week training program was developed using a living lab approach, combining individual and group activities, focusing on reflective practice and clinical support. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative and qualitative designs will be used, with data collected from 10 to 20 PCNs and 2 to 4 clinical supervisors. Five questionnaires will assess the acceptability of the program (following each activity), while perceived effects will be explored through 3 questionnaires at 3 time points: pre-, immediately post-, and 4 to 6 months post-program. Qualitative interviews will also be conducted with PCNs and PCN clinical supervisors (immediately post- and 4 to 6 months post-program) to explore the acceptability, perceived effects of the program and the feasibility of involving PCN clinical supervisors in the program. Discussion and Research Spin-offs: By evaluating the acceptability and perceived effects of this innovative continuing education program for mental health assessment, this project could provide valuable insights for adapting and testing the program in other settings and with a broader population.

Geological Carbon Storage (GCS) is an essential climate mitigation strategy, enabling the long-term storage of carbon dioxide (CO₂) in deep subsurface formations. Offshore Atlantic Canada offers significant potential due to favourable geology, extensive subsurface data, and infrastructure from past hydrocarbon development. Major sedimentary basins such as the Scotian, Jeanne d’Arc, and Orphan contain structural traps, thick saline aquifers, and effective caprock seals that are critical for secure CO2 storage. Successful GCS depends on robust geological modelling workflows that incorporate subsurface heterogeneity, trapping mechanisms, and containment integrity. This paper reviews the foundational components of geological models - structural, stratigraphic, geometric, and topological frameworks – combined with numerical simulators to predict plume migration, pressure evolution, and geochemical interactions. Modelling supports all project stages, from site screening to post-injection monitoring, and is guided by parameters such as capacity, injectivity, containment, and storage efficiency. International offshore analogs such as Sleipner, Snøhvit, Northern Lights, Tomakomai, and Porthos provide valuable lessons in infrastructure reuse, regulatory development, and public engagement. These projects highlight the importance of tailored monitoring and verification plans, hub-based infrastructure models, and early-stage demonstration projects to build public trust. Offshore Atlantic Canada faces unique challenges including complex structural geology, overpressure zones, and salt tectonics, necessitating detailed technical evaluation. Recommended actions include high-resolution geologic modelling, probabilistic capacity assessments, and the creation of a regional carbon storage atlas. As regulatory frameworks evolve and carbon management becomes increasingly urgent, offshore Atlantic Canada is well-positioned to become a leader in safe, large-scale geological CO₂ storage.

Studies have shown that parental academic self-efficacy, or the parent’s perception of their ability to support their child’s academic motivation and success has been linked to better student adjustment. This longitudinal study examines (1) the trajectories of this feeling among 618 parents over the four years encompassing their child’s transition to secondary school; (2) whether the student’s gender and mental abilities, the parents’ level of education, and their perception of their child’s academic motivation in Grade 5 predict trajectory membership; and (3) whether trajectory membership is related to the student’s academic adjustment in the second year of secondary school. Two relatively stable trajectories emerged: one where parents have a high sense of academic self-efficacy that decreases from the end of primary school onwards, and one where parents initially have a moderate feeling of self-efficacy that decreases slightly over the next three years. Parents’ perception of their child’s academic motivation positively predicted membership in the high trajectory. Students of parents in this trajectory have higher perception of competence, motivation, and academic performance in the second year of secondary school compared to other students.
