This is an descriptive and empiric study of the Ford purchasing policy impact upon the human resources management of partner suppliers. With reference to the model proposed by H. Mahé de Boislandelle, this research aims at first to analyse the social function integration at partner supplier within an external procurement relationship. An inquiry was carried out from a sample of Ford partner supplier producing intermediate goods bought by local and European Ford factories. There is some evidence that supplier's HRM correlates with partnership degree. Three configurations of HRM policy appear : constraining concept, strategic vision, stimulated social policy produced by customer's quality requirements. In each above perception, HRM applications and effects were found to be specific.

AbstractTo understand the present state of development of sectional policies in the field of computerization of public administration requires a review of the social projects which form the basis of their development and application. A critical analysis of two official reports (S. Nora/A. Mine. P. Lemoine) concerning the concept of power and change conveyed in dealing with their respective problematic reveals a considerable difference in their paradigmatic direction and, therefore, in the strategy to adopt in managing technological change. This analysis tends to show that the most serious consequences of the computerization of society do not stem from computerization itself, but from social projects aimed at it and from the notion of reality underlying them.

The youth movement has played an important role in France's major conflicts during the 60's. Their demands for social change seem to have faded away with the coming economic crisis. The young have been particularly hit by higher unemployment rates which barely existed a decade ago. Youth unemployment can be explained by the nature of political struggle within the State in capitalist society.

The EKIP reference framework is accessible, via its digital platform, to Québec professionals in the education network and the health and social services network committed to health promotion in schools to support the health, well-being and educational success of young people. A concept mapping operation, seven focus groups and a systematic scoping review were conducted to help develop a strategy to promote the use of EKIP in the public and private primary and secondary school network in Québec. The results produced by the concept mapping and the focus groups are presented, followed by the broad outlines of an EKIP deployment strategy. The main results obtained by the systematic scoping review are briefly presented in support of the strategy development.

Many works have been done on enterprises spatial relationships, especially by industrial economists. This article, with an micro-economic approach, focuses on strategy influence on enterprise spatial behaviour. The analysis uses three axes, enterpreneur, enterprise relations nature, enterprise relations location.Three spatial behaviours have been identified: localized behaviours, involving enterprise spatial proximity; delocalized behaviours for which local relationships are slight and embedded behaviours, where enterprises are involved in territorial cooperation.

Using the concept of Creating Shared Value, Porter and Kramer (2006, 2011) suggest reconciling business strategy with CSR in organizations. However, Porter and Kramer appear to have developed their concept for large organizations. This study based on a survey of 488 French SME leaders tests the validity of the levers of the Creation of Shared Value in an SMEs' context: (1) the participation in a local cluster, (2) the redesign of products/services and markets, (3) the redefinition of the value chain.

There is a plethoric literature on the determinants of SMEs' growth. The main determining factors can be classified into characteristics of the environment, of the firm, of its strategy and of the entrepreneur. The idea behind this research is that the determinants' influence on growth, and especially of the initial characteristics of the entrepreneur at the startup phase, will vary over time. To test this assumption, we measured the impact of several factors considered by the literature as influencing the growth of SMEs three and five years after their creation. Our sample consisted of 2 350 SMEs from various industries. Our results indicate that the determinants have a lower explanatory power of the growth of SMEs five years than three years after the creation. This decrease particularly affects the initial entrepreneurial characteristics, as well as the sector's and the firm's characteristics.

Our research studies the role of responsible management control systems (RMCS) in supporting a CSR approach and in measuring and managing societal performance in SMEs. SMEs face particular challenges in adopting these RMCS, particularly due to limited resources, a lack of specific skills and the perceived difficulty of reconciling economic constraints with sustainability objectives. A case study was carried out in an SME with 150 employees in the accounting field. The results show the presence of RMCS composed of tools whose use falls under one or more control levers identified by Simons (1995). They show how these RMCS contribute to managing CSR actions and how they coexist, complement and influence each other or not, with the aim of measuring and continuously improving social performance. The RMCS, adapted to the context and specificities of the SME, appear to be the result of a strategic CSR intention of the company. Our results, however, reveal divergences of perception and several limitations linked to these SCGRs, and underline the importance of dialogue between management and stakeholders for better social performance.

Abstract This article reviews sixty years of the activity of the World Bank, by stressing the variations over time of its attitude with regard to the fight against poverty. Indeed, during the 1950s and 1960s, the World Bank considered that the best means of fighting poverty consisted in creating the conditions of the fastest possible growth by carrying out heavy investments in physical infrastructures. However, faced with the persistence of mass poverty and high inequalities in a great number of developing countries despite rather satisfactory performances in terms of growth, at the end of the 1960s the World Bank put for the first time the “war against poverty” at the centre of its agenda. Then during the 1970s it endeavoured to work out new growth strategies which are more favourable for the poor. Under the era of structural adjustment, the vision of the World Bank changed in many respects. During the first half of the 1980s, in a context of the debt crisis, the World Bank was led to put aside the objective of poverty reduction to favour the recovery of macroeconomic balances and the potential of growth of countries in difficulty. However, in response to criticism concerning the social costs of its adjustment programs, the international financial institution, at the end of the 1980s, reaffirmed its commitment to reduce poverty by giving greater importance to the social effects of short-term adjustment and proposing afterwards new strategies towards long-term poverty reduction.
