34.More information
Over the past decade, many countries have developed a legal framework for the social and solidarity economy (SSE). Interest in the sector has also been growing in international organisations including the United Nations. The authors compare SSE legislation around the world and show that the terms used for describing the sector, the main principles, organisational forms included in the sector, and institutionalisation processes vary according to the economic, social, cultural and political contexts of the countries concerned. Nevertheless, there are many points in common and a global legal culture emerges of the SSE and SSE enterprise.
