Despite the renewed interest in science fiction since the 2000s, the number of feature films in the genre remains limited in Brazil. Yet an abundant number of short science fiction films are produced there, and more recently we have seen a few Brazilian feature films affiliated with the genre have great impact on public and critical opinion. With the legislation of unified Chinese civil code, the Chinese contract law is faced with reform. According to the newest text of legal project published after the second reading by national peoples’ congress, it is more like a compilation instead of a reform by coordinating the contract law of 1999 with its judiciary interpretations made by the Supreme Court during last 20 years, without touching the skeleton of plan and the order of rules. Even though, there are still some highlights worth paying special attentions such as the absence of the general regime of obligations which is indispensable for a civil code following the continental law tradition, the cancelation of the validity rules of contract which mixes the validation of judicial acts and that of contracts, the additional 4 typical contracts which makes the title of special contracts more redundant and detailed with its 19 types, and the competence of judges which needs to be further clarified. Thus, the effect of reform remains to be observed in the practice.
