One of Björk's most distinguishing features is her mastery of musical technology. The main focus of this article is the encounter between Björk and electronic dance music, at the end of the '80s. Our objective is to facilitate a better understanding of the Icelandic singer's appetite for this music and the instruments of its production; this interest, we claim, is correlative to her unique position during the renewal of electronic popular music, which took place in Great Britain at the beginning of the '90s.

In this article, the author follows the genesis of Fauré's L'Horizon chimérique from the first encounter between musician and poet to the completion of the musical setting and finally to problems of performance. He pays particular attention to the formal characteristics of a poem (prosody, rhythm, metrics) and tries to show their importance all the way to the smallest details of the musical setting.
