So far most of the means for the domination of a conflict have been directed towards the total domination of the enemy and in particular towards taking the initiative over him. By combining the works of Idries Shah and Francisco Varela we suggest here to add to this conventional dimension of strategy a rather non conventional one consisting in the modeling of conflicts as autonomous entities which can be targeted and destroyed. Domination and the taking of strategic initiative then require not only the capacity to destroy enemy forces but also the unconditional capacity to destroy any declared conflict. In conclusion we suggest that such a war against war be federated by William Jame's “moral equivalent of war” along with the psychology of a total resistance in the sense of Hans von Bach.

Our research starts from two observations. On the one hand, the teaching of writing in languages focuses more on a normative and conventional academic tradition than on a relationship between writing and its social environment. On the other hand, our pre-service teachers come from this normative school and university system. The question is therefore simple: is it possible to train pre-service teachers who do not reproduce the didactics of standardized writing? Our scientific approach is based on theories of multimodality and teacher as a designer. Data collected and analyzed consist of pre-service teachers' dialogues and multimodal productions. This research, though limited, shows that all pre-service teachers have acquired digital competencies without prior training. They were also able to design new pedagogical environments that relied on both digital, and multimodal affordances, all of which were of high quality.

This article is the result of the encounter of two researchers coming from different backgrounds –one in Anthropology and the other in cinema- and of their reflections on the development of a research partnership with Indigenous communities in Brazil and Canada. Their main goal is to foster an ongoing dialogue about their collaborative work in terms of participatory approaches. Their objectives, often held commonly, also attest to the difference in their approaches, hence the importance of the comparative dimension adopted throughout this article. The creation, here in cinema, is a tool of cultural transmission where members of Indigenous communities are the actors and authors of their performances.

The work of image and sound is revealing in terms of relation, connection and cultural transmission by and beyond the identities. The stages of archiving and documentation offer not only a rich potential for research, but also a perceptive and sensitive base, essential for achieving a more articulated and committed visual expression. The training in video and cinema does not rely on a recipe or a simple question of technical processes, it is above all a relational space. Filming engages the whole community and is a tool of transmission of knowledge and memory, as say the Indigenous filmmakers. The training becomes therefore an in-between-space that captures cultural views of participants and opens through creativity a visual thinking specific to the individuals and their communities. This creativity comes from both instructors and participants in a continual process of participation, collaboration, and consultation – a process that we describe as action-research through creation.

The article is an introduction to a sociological reading of the social as a symbolic activity, expression that should be understood in a very large sense. The author proposes, as an indication, five ways to carry out this reading. Social work can then be analysed as a work on the social link based on the language mechanism. The end of the article proposes an interpretation of social work as a communication action, beyond the technical and instrumental aspects of its activity and the strategical aspects of its organization.

This article discusses the growing institutionalization of fat studies. It approaches this interdisciplinary and intersectional field of research, which focuses on the fat experience by interweaving activist and academic knowledge to challenge weight-bias in Western societies. Because of the lack of translation these rich theories and practices are little known to French-speaking feminist communities. The author chose to present some issues in relation to the discursive construction of « fatness » and recognizing « fat bodies » as epistemic subjects.
