The mission of the Faculté des sciences de l’éducation of the University of Moncton fits into a vision of education based on personal development, social justice and peace. In order to make this vision a reality, the faculty adopted an underlying philosophy in its teacher training activities, a global approach that it calls the Pedagogy of Actualization. For a Pedagogy of Actualization to exist, it must be anchored in values of equity. Basing their arguments on prior research done with educators, the authors demonstrate the positive influence of an approach that sensitizes people to equity in pedagogy, in both practice and representation. In this article, we first define the concepts of equity and equality and then look at how the concept of equity underlies each of the components of the Pedagogy of Actualization. In conclusion, we present an equity grid applied to this pedagogical approach, followed by a reflexive analysis guide based on the examination of ones own teaching practices.

Co-founded by the Acadian Mathieu Chouinard and the Québécois Marc-André Charron, the company Satellite Théâtre is recognized for its activities in theatre training, creation, and dissemination on local and international stages. In this article, Pénélope Cormier and Nicole Nolette use a methodology based on the sociology of the arts, and interviews with the co-founders to draw a map of the strategic alliances and networks that have made the company successful since its founding in Montréal in 2009 and beyond its move to Moncton in 2016. This map shows the originality of Satellite Théâtre's work in Acadian theatre history: the company mobilizes at once the (local and national) networks proper to minority French-language theatre in Canada, and local, national and international networks of artists and companies who share a similar theatre language based on intercultural dialogue and physical theatre.

Digital devices have colonized many facets of our daily lives and compulsory schools are now appropriating this evolution. The announced learning goals are often associated with the notion of digital citizenship. At the same time, educational institutions are defining the digital learning environments that teachers and students must adopt. Positioning themselves in the digital humanities, the authors question the posted definitions of digital citizenship, confront them with the sui generis nature of the digital and its industry, and finally question the connection between these and the public school. Issues of citizen empowerment, autonomy and governance serve the analysis and allow us to conclude that it is necessary to debate the pedagogical-digital contradictions.

In France, probation officers spend two years at the National Correctional Administration Academy before beginning work. Some of the courses they take are in criminology, reflecting the growing interest in this discipline in France. However, introducing criminology into the training content is not neutral as it also introduces a particular concept of probation and the practices related to it. To understand what this means in terms of social reintegration, this article suggests that criminology was made part of the training of future probation officers as a way to affect public action, so that the resulting changes can be seen as the result of political interventions. This analysis leads us to discuss the paradigm in terms of which French probation operates and to emphasize that the change in direction caused by training cannot be considered a new approach to social reinsertion but, on the contrary, is a way to consolidate probation as a tool for preventing recidivism, furthering a risk management approach.

On June 13th, 1983, Louis-Edmond Hamelin was nearing the end of his term as President at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (Uqtr) when he gave this talk marking the University's acquisition of the Robert-Lionel Séguin collection. His speech was much more than simply an official address. It revealed itself to be a manifesto in favour of an interdisciplinary approach to “Québec Studies”. Thanks to its tremendous documentary value, the Séguin collection, Québec's largest repository of material culture, has provided us with a profound understanding of Francophone culture spanning three centuries. The presentation included scholarly development plans for the monumental collection, encompassing cataloguing, undergraduate teaching, museum pedagogy, research and further study, as well as collaboration with other institutions. The text of the address is presented here in context, along with notes that highlight its original and innovative approach.

The COVID-19 crisis has shed light on the central role of personal care workers in Long term care organizations in Quebec. This category of employees has suffered from many problems for several years : lack of attraction and retention, intensification of the workload... A major problem relates to their low participation in organizational decisions. The objective of this article is to analyse the constraint they undergo between what is required of them in terms of the quality of practices, and what is given to them in terms of resources. We carried out thirty life stories coupled with semi-structured interviews with former personal care workers who recently left their profession. Our results make it possible to collectively succeed that the agents are not structured (professional register, federation) which allow collective resistance against organizational constraints. Rather, their lack of participation leads to forms of individual disengagement, such absenteeism or resignation. Our critical reflection can make it possible to account for the heuristic character of the concept of epistemic inequality, not only in the context of feminist and / or postcolonial studies, but also in an organizational context.
