This article proposes a socio-historical framework of RC in Quebec. In keeping with Gingras's (1991) research institutionalization model, three periods are described : a) the emergence of research-creation in Québec from the late 1960s to the 1980s ; b) the institutionalization of research-creation in the 1990s and 2000s ; c) the social identity and community of researcher-creators, from the 2000s to today. The socio-historical framing reveals turning points and tensions in each of the target periods, including the integration of professional artists into the university, the association of the term creation with the term research, the creation of a funding structure, the expansion of the research capacity and the creation of a pool of future researcher-creators through the development of graduate and postgraduate programs and the diversification of funding in the various universities.

The University of the Arts of Ecuador is an educational project created in 2013 as part of a reform of the higher education system, which was part of a government policy aimed at transforming the country's development structures. This article reviews the gestation process of this public educational institution and analyses its impact in different dimensions : i) the relationship of the university with the territory it inhabits, ii) its original educational model in the arts and its significance in the Ecuadorian higher education system, iii) the dialogue of the results of the university's creative production with the local artistic field.

The article focuses on a collective project carried out for several years by a multidisciplinary team, which has given rise to three editions of summer schools on the theme of «Policy of the Urban Ambient». The approach of the summer school consists of collecting audiovisual material that allows for the problematisation of an aspect of the city that hosts the summer school, in France or in Belgium. The article proposes a reflexive analysis of this experience according to three problematization axes: the auctoriality recognized in the results of the field survey; the formalization on which it is largely based; the interpellative power that is lent to it in reception. It appears that field semiotics is not so much about describing or even effectively revealing the regimes of meaning that structure an environment, as it is about bringing these critical effects to bear on the field of enquiry as much as on the enquiry itself as a field.

If the Christianized Nepali-Bhutanese among whom I conducted my doctoral studies in the region of Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, do not have recourse to the term “spirituality,” it is nevertheless possible to observe that “people are engaged in moral boundary work (…) setting out distinctions that allow status comparisons based on qualities judged as virtuous” (Ammerman 2013, 275) in the narrative surrounding their conversion. This work can be observed at the forefront of interactions in the refugee camps where they stayed in Nepal and in Quebec. The conversion to Christianity is accompanied by a series of discourses by Hindus, Christians, and the agents who helped resettle the refugees in Quebec. Although these discourses generally seem to follow the contours of categories defined by Ammerman in her study of spirituality, a nuanced approach must be taken with respect to ethical discourses that develop around conversion and belonging to a group of converts.

Starting from the Bergsonian perception of humour as being a funny and pleasant staging of social facts in order to show their unsociability, we ask, in the context of this article, the following question: how the cartoonists of the French-speaking Algerian press did represent the way of acting of the Algerian during the health crisis due to the spread of the coronavirus? To answer it, we will try to identify precisely the meanings of the symbolic representations of the Algerian in the caricatural image of the French-speaking Algerian press at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the way in which the image of the Algerian is spoken in ten cartoons published in three local newspapers dealing with the subject of the coronavirus in Algeria. Our objective is to grasp the implicit meaning of iconic messages (from a semiotic approach of the image) and linguistic messages (used by cartoonists to describe what is, by pretending to believe that it is the way it should be).

This contribution, which explores the use of children's literature to develop students' creativity, has two goals that involve describing observed activities to identify the originality of albums and engage students in creative activities triggered by literary networks. The criteria for analysis used are the creativity competencies of OECD (Vincent-Lancrin et al., 2020) and Lucas (2016) for creativity, and those Anstey and Bull (2018) associate with postmodern albums for originality of works. The type of network, the album involved, the cycle observed, the disciplines integrated, and the type of activity (metatextual or hypertextual) are other descriptors central to the analysis. From the 18 observations, it appears that metatextual activities – mainly observed to bring students into contact with the originality of the albums – and hypertextual activities – mainly observed during creative activities – are interesting for developing their creativity.

In France, the “À la manière de” (“In the manner of” or “In the style of”) is a pedagogical scenario that consists in asking students to copy a work of art with school resources. This model is highly contested, but also very widespread. This paradox prompts an analysis of the didactic model using the tools of art history, history of education and creativity theory. This analysis allows the formulation of seven modifications that could be made to the scenario to give it more pedagogical interest and artistic accuracy. Two teaching sequences in visual arts are proposed as examples of activities that replace the notion of copying with that of interpretation or adaptation.
