Death is a highly personal matter that paradoxically concerns everyone. Although the concept of death transcends disciplinary cleavages, and despite an abundance of literature, its very nature is hard to pin down. This text mainly explores the biological side of the issue, through the study of apoptosis (a cell biology concept), by taking into account certain evolutionary aspects (from the perspective of evolution biology) and philosophical arguments (metabiology). Our thinking aims to thwart the codes of opposition between the concepts of living and dead, preferring to consider death as a part of Life. Last, our article proposes the ‘Black Light' metaphor to capture a general operation of the mind that consists in seeking, through mirroring or antonymy, the positive (creative) correlates of negation, opposition and destruction.

This paper is an analytical description of the mental health system set up by Handicap International in the Palestinian camps in Lebanon. The main characteristic of this system is to associate an ecological perspective (concerned with the environment of the people) with an individual perspective (concerned with the resources of the persons) to restore the social participation of children living with various types of disabilities (intellectual or psychosocial). Through these two perspectives, the mental health professionals try to maintain a form of collective therapeutic solidarity whereas the beneficiaries of the intervention are not so much regarded as autonomous and abstract but as interdependent and concrete. Child care takes account of the caregiving resources of his or her community. By collectively planning out their interventions with the families and the key resource people of the community, the mental health professionals work on the question of their interdependencies. This results in a health care system that ceases to be the place where one is taking care of to become a place by which one is taken care of.

In this study, we explore a conception of theology capable of going beyond the insufficient relationship to ritual that characterizes it. This conception is based on the theory of knowledge developed by Michael Polanyi with the aim of correcting the one-sidedness of scientific objectification by the integration of knowledge's personal dimension, thus reconciling science and faith, theory and practice, method and art at the same time. We begin with the theological appropriations of the Polanyian epistemology. If the theological reception of Michael Polanyi's epistemological perspectives can be based on explicit references to the Christian faith in the author's writings, it largely moves away from the target, which is the believer's attitude in Worship. For this reason, in a second moment, we revisit Michael Polanyi's work from the perspective of the importance he gives to Worship as a heuristic attitude. Finally, we argue plead for a theological reintegration of the rite : in tune with the Polanyian vision, we open up towards a theological and anthropological conception of ritual action as “making the truth”.

Although homelessness has been examined from every disciplinary, clinical, and practical angle, its complexity makes it difficult to grasp. Constructed as a social problem with no apparent solution for many years, homelessness is now the subject of a multitude of practices aimed at reducing its effects on individuals and communities. However, the individual part of the solutions remains over-invested at the expense of social and structural responsibility. Coming from a reflexive autobiographical posture, this article presents various disciplinary tribulations that have enabled its author to re-examine the “solutions” to homelessness over the years. By finding her niche between sociology, social work and architecture, the author can question the current construction of this social problem to identify her moral enterprise : that of amplifying voices that are too often unheard.

This article examines the evolution of postures and discourses around the creation of a protected natural area located in a coastal zone, a territory physically delimited and occupied by a historical diversity of stakeholders/users, and more specifically at what is at stake in the participatory episodes of a consultation process initiated as part of a development project, the extension of a marine reserve. It proposes a cross-analysis between linguistics and geography, in line with the interdisciplinary perspective prevailing in environmental sciences (Hicks et al. , 2010). Our first approach, based on discourse analysis, is based on a textometric study to identify shared vocabulary and lexical specificities. The results lead us to mobilize the linguistics of enunciation to characterize the enunciative positioning of stakeholder groups, and to describe the different postures adopted during the consultation process.
