Film music has been neglected for a long time in scholarly literature, especially in French-speaking countries. This shortcoming is addressed since a few decades by the blossoming of musicological and specialized analysis devoted to film music. By casting a retrospective glance over this young academic field called “film musicology”, we will first question the place of film music study within musicological research, so as to understand the disavowal it has been subjected to. Disparities still exist between North American and French approaches, but we will demonstrate that the progressive institutionalization of film music and its inclusion within musicology are set on an encouraging path. The issues specific to film music study will be examined in order to highlight what methodological challenges such a research object entails. We will also show how they relate to and reengage a number of reflections taking place within musicology itself.

In order to find out whether the concepts of partnership and collaboration are yielding a new mode of research by the university and its setting, this article first examines the meanings and applications of these concepts, specifically in the field of education. Next it presents a theoretical model for analyzing the dynamic of the issues raised by research-in-partnership in education that focusses on the social organization of knowledge production. This in turn leads to a tentative definition of research-in-partnership in education. The analysis presented here shows that the university-setting relationship and research-in-partnership are not new phenomena. However, reform to teacher education conducted under the rubric of professionalization and partnership has increased the frequency and the intensity of university-setting relations by formalizing and institutionalizing instances of collaboration that perforce involve participants in a process of interdependency and of the cross-fertilization of identities.

For this special issue of the Revue générale de droit on the legal protection of seniors, a professor of financial services law and a civil liability professor decided to work together to explore some aspects of protection that are at the junction of their respective fields. Specifically, they examined the impact of the victim's age and vulnerability in the assessment of the victim's share of responsibility for the injury sustained in the context of a civil liability action against a provider of financial services. The notion of “share of responsibility” refers to the concepts of fault by the victim, acceptance of risk, mitigation of injury, novus actus interveniens (“breaking the chain”) and ratification of the actions of the financial services provider. Using several jurisprudential examples, the authors seek to determine whether the age and vulnerability of the victim encourage the courts to take a more protective attitude, in other words whether the courts may excuse a victim's wrongful conduct and grant compensation without taking into account the victim's share of responsibility, if any, for the injury sustained.

The aim of the study was to identify the continuing professional development (CPD) needs of the members of the Ordre des psychoéducateurs et psychoéducatrices du Québec (OPPQ) and to explore differences in this regard between new members (graduates of the past five years) and other members. To this end, an online survey was conducted from May 15 to August 15, 2014. Of the 1034 members that agreed to complete the questionnaire, 174 (16.8 %) were recent graduates. Results show that there is a need for CPD primarily regarding the competencies required to perform evaluations, provide counseling and support individuals and groups. Recent graduates differ from other members in two ways: 1) they are generally more interested in undergoing training for a large number of competencies; and 2) proportionally more are interested in intermediate-level training and proportionally fewer in basic- or advanced-level training.

This interview with the two U.S. librarians who co-chaired the Task Force that led to the creation of the Association of College & Research Libraries' Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (ACRL 2016) revisits the process of its creation as well as the reception this document has received five years after its inception. The authors retrace the main conceptual debates that have shaped the Framework and propose a typology of contemporary currents in information literacy, providing insight into the issues that inform the evolution of different conceptions of the pedagogical role of librarians in higher education from yesterday until today. The original interview took place in English.
