This contribution describes a transdisciplinary research project studying the social participation of young people with sickle cell disease and eventually neuropsychological disorders, living in Guadeloupe. The theoretical and methodological framework leading this research is the second version of the Disability Creation Process (Fougeyrollas, 2010; Fougeyrollas, Boucher & Charrier, 2016) and its measuring tools (LIFE-H4.0, Fougeyrollas, Noreau & Lepage, 2014, and MQE 2.0, Fougeyrollas, Noreau, St-Michel, & Boschen, 1999). Firstly, the theoretical and practical choices will be warranted: the cultural adaptation of the tools, regarding the specific local context, and regarding the chronic disease of our main study population (N=102, between 6-16 years). A control group (N=45) allows us to investigate a possible effect of the cultural context on participation and on the perception of the environment, as no study has been conducted yet in such a context. The life trajectory or « career » of the young chronically ill and their close family can be highlighted by biographic narratives interviews. This timeframe is relevant in relation to the DCP-2, as it provides a diachronic perspective in addition to the initial synchronic description of the model. To conclude, we will focus attention on the epistemological issues implied by the crossdisciplinarity of such a research, a particularly topical issue in the field of health research (Trabal, Collinet & Terral, 2017;Trabal, 2019).

Several issues have marked the daily work of social workers (SWs) in Quebec hospitals in recent years. Among these are the proliferation of professionals in care units, making the clarity of each person's role difficult for hospitalized individuals and the team members themselves; the increase in hospitalization needs; the labor shortage; and the difficulties in accessing services outside the hospital to ensure the safe return home of individuals after hospitalization. While the role of SWs in hospitals is described in various service offerings of Quebec hospitals as a professional role in helping to find effective solutions to the social problems experienced by hospitalized individuals, how is this help concretely provided in the current post-pandemic context? This introduction to the special issue provides a brief overview of the role of SWs in hospitals, from its origins to today, as a backdrop to the articles contained in the special issue. This issue contributes to renewing the knowledge and recognition of social work in the field of health. The articles in this issue showcase current practices and reflections on the practice of social work in Quebec hospitals.

This article presents the foundations, methodology and results of an action-research project aimed at modeling, testing, and evaluating an educational strategy based on the construction of a learning territory. Based on the enhancement of student-territory links, it tests a hypothesis that considers the territory’s heritage component as an educational lever to develop quality eco-citizenship education, understood as emancipated eco-citizenship: responsible, willing, and able to make commitments. The methodology consists of a comparative analysis of three groups of students representative of three increasing degrees of participation in the learning territory. The results obtained highlight positive and statistically significant impacts on the eco-citizen profiles of students who are active, authors and builders of the learning territory.
