Archivistique, histoire et Web sémantique : une approche interdisciplinaire basée sur l'événementiel
More informationThe Semantic Web is beginning to interest historical researchers in Québec. Its functioning requires a restructuring of archival and historical methodologies to increase the interoperability of data produced within each of these disciplines. Linked data, a technical innovation that underlies the Semantic Web, requires the use of multiple vocabularies and standards to create links between their contents with the aim of registering the latter in a cloud of data that can be searched dynamically. This short article explains the functioning of the Semantic Web with the aim of presenting an ontological model built around the notion of event, which is entitled the Conceptual Reference Model, as elaborated by the International Committee for Documentation of the International Council of Museums. This introduction to the ontologies that can store the complexity of a fact of patrimony, leads to a reflection on the common competencies, including those yet to be developed, for professionals in these disciplines. The question of interdisciplinarity is at the heart of the argument in order to show that the involvement of a large number of actors is basic in assuring the development of a provincial semantic platform on the history of Québec.

Throughout its history, criminology has been influenced by many disciplines. In the early 20th century it was shaped by positivist sociology in the United States and by psychiatry in Great Britain, and later was strongly influenced by critical currents in sociology. Beginning in the 1990s, it began to take into account the viewpoints of various disciplines. This article uses citations from a group of criminology journals, mainly in English, to analyze the relative influence of those disciplines between 1991 and 2014. The analysis reveals that writing in criminology is increasingly interdisciplinary, with 65 % of articles in 2014 citing sources in more than three disciplines. In those articles, the proportion of references to the field of psychology has grown, while references to the social sciences and to law have decreased. Close examination of journal citations and author affiliations shows that 42 % of the journals studied have an interdisciplinary profile, 22 % take a socio-criminological perspective, 22 % focus on psychology, and 4 % are devoted to law. Lastly, analysis of the network of these journal's citations reveals influences from multiple disciplines on criminology's core publications, from journals rooted in criminology and the social sciences to interdisciplinary journals as well as those that focus on psychology.

With the advent of globalization, the current societal hegemon of classical sociology would be in decline to benefit of the rise of individuality. The later now occupy an analytical centrality within the sociology of postmodernity. This article aims to trace the processual emergence of the individual subject within sociological discipline, before raising some challenges facing his current search on the coming-society. At the heart of this slow rise of subjectivity, the new sociology of the individual seem to carry the load to draw up the theoretical and conceptual contours of the new complex configuration of human societies that, for many, remains has to be written. It also goes into the epistemological become of this original approach to new social processes.

What constitutes the discipline of International Relations is today in question. These challenges to the discipline concern its scientific aspirations and disciplinary boundaries, as well as the ethical and social issues associated with them. The latter deal as much with the analyses produced in IR (their content, scientific, political, and applied value) as with the power relations affecting the individuals taking part in such analyses. Inspired by specific political and normative concerns, we seek to put forth an « undisciplined » perspective that reflects on the discipline of IR in the Francophone Canadian community through our teaching experiences in International Relations at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and at the University of Ottawa rather than through the varied national communities as designed by the data of the Teaching, Research, and International Policy (TRIP) gathered by Institute for the Theory and Practice of International Relations at the College of William and Mary. Our contribution is threefold : 1) it appeals to the necessity of interdisciplinarity by foregrounding an « undisciplined » perspective ; 2) it insists on the primacy of actively « forgetting » IR theory, to echo Roland Bleiker, by mobilising our teaching practices ; and 3) it shows, through a critical methodological stance of feminist curiosity, how pedagogy may act as an opening to the world of international relations. While so doing, it promotes more openness as to what international relations might consist of and encompass, and acknowledges emotions as central to meaning-making processes in the world of/in International Relations.
