The notion of territory is still poorly integrated into the theoretical models most frequently used in social work. This paper, carried out for our Master’s thesis, seeks to better define the issues regarding travel and mobility in rural social work, by presenting the reality of social workers in La Haute-Côte-Nord MRC (regional county municipality), in the province of Quebec. This MRC is an essentially rural and disadvantaged region. The model proposed by Augustin and al. (2023) used here, integrates the notions of space to the various systemic levels, from the place of dwelling to global spaces, and also integrates their feedback loops of interactions between the levels. By enhancing the analysis of the complexities emerging from interactions with the spatial dimension, it allows to account for the challenges faced and strategies used by social workers in a region where this dimension is an integral part of their work. These realities are also shown here in the preliminary results of our current research.

In this article, we reflect on how cinema conveys the harshness of the internal struggle between faith and worldly experience. Based on our analysis of Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal, Andreï Tarkovsky’s Andreï Rublev, and Maurice Pialat’s Under the Sun of Satan – three films considered as sources in their own right –, we argue that cinema offers new insights into the theological theme of inner struggle. By embodying spiritual life and making this struggle perceptible, cinematic language goes beyond the mere representation or inventory of those tensions : on the contrary, it questions their reality.

In 2010, Roland Monpierre published a comic book recounting an episode in the life of a French hero, a black man from Guadeloupe during the French Revolution (1793), using a Franco-Belgian style deeply rooted in colonialism (Delisle, McKinney). To overcome this contradiction between the progressive content (the key role of a Black man in a France that was still pro-slavery at the time) and the conservative form (the Franco-Belgian style of the 1960s), he uses narrative techniques favored by Caribbean culture, such as the staging and imagery of orality, interactivity, tricksterism, and humor (Confiant et al. 1989).

This article reads two of Gonzalo de Berceo’s Miracles of Our Lady, tracing how different economic operations find a vocabulary in moral words and concepts that open up to economic metaphorization and become ambiguous and polysemic. The analysis proposes that Miracle X “The Two Brothers,” and Miracle XXIII “The Merchant of Byzantium,” both structured on debt, present a particular idea of conversion.

In this account of their artistic practice, the duo Place Courage explores the issues raised by “The Lost Food Banquet of the North”, a work presented in Spring 2025 at the McCord Stewart Museum as part of FIKA(S), an immersive festival of Nordic and Scandinavian Kultur and art. For a year, the collective traveled throughout various Nordic territories to collect stories of lost meals—memories of dishes or ingredients that can no longer be tasted. Through these stories, the work questions food memory and the links between culinary heritage, territory, and social, ecological, and cultural transformations. The work is conceived as a space for sharing and reactivating memories, where artistic practice acts as a gesture of repair and transmission.

The phenomenon of migration has always existed, over time taking various forms, depending on the economic, social, political and cultural reality. The approach to this issue aims to identify the factors that contribute to the emergence and propagation of the phenomenon of migration, in its complexity, focusing on the opportunities for criminal exploitation of the vulnerabilities of migrant persons. Illegal migration for the purpose of human exploitation constitutes the main link in the network of organized crime, human trafficking and migrant trafficking representing forms of cross-border crime that are difficult to fight in the absence of an adequate legislative framework. The criminal dynamics vary according to the generating factors. Considerable proportions are registered regarding the female dimension, followed by the age dimension. Victims are subjected to multiple forms of exploitation, such as sexual exploitation, labor exploitation or begging exploitation, of which sexual exploitation is the one that represents the largest share. The present study consists in analyzing the vulnerabilities of migrants in the context of crisis or emergency situations, such as the armed conflict in Ukraine and the regional crisis generated by it.
