La population multirégionale stable comme instrument d’analyse conjoncturelle. Une application à l’Italie, 1977-1986

L'intensité des modifications à court terme dans le comportement démographique d'une population est souvent occultée par une force d'inertie résultant des structures héritées du comportement passé. Le recours à la population stable permet d'éliminer ce « poids du passé ». Cet article présente les principaux résultats d'une application de cette approche pour l'analyse des changements dans le comportement de fécondité, de migration et de mortalité de la population italienne entre 1977 et 1986.

THE STABLE MULTIREGIONAL POPULATION AS A TOOL FOR ECONOMIC ANALYSIS. A STUDY OF ITALY, 1977-1986

The intensity of short-term fluctuations in a population's demographic behaviour is often overshadowed by a force of inertia resulting from the structures inherited from past behaviour. Stable population theory produces an effective way to eliminate this "weight of the past". This article presents the results of an application of this approach in analyzing changes in the fertility, migration and mortality regime of the Italian population during the 1977-1986 period.

La intensidad de las modificaciones a corto plazo en el comportamiento demografico de una población se ve a menudo ocultada por unafuerza de inercia, resultado de las estructuras heredadas del comportamiento pasado. Recurrir a la población estable permite eliminar este "peso del pasado". El presente articulo presenta los principales resultados de aplicación de este enfoque para el analisis de los cambios en el comportamiento defecundidad, de migración y de mortalidad de la población italiana entre 1977 y 1986.
