Cet article choisit la fête de Saint-Roch à Tarija en Bolivie comme manifestation privilégiée d'une identité culturelle qui est d'abord régionale.
À partir de données ethnographiques présentées pour situer le contexte, Cauteure décode quelques signes qui renvoient au passé. Ces signes du passé sont ramenés au présent pendant le temps de la fête, faisant ainsi éclater l'identité homogène véhiculée dans le discours des gens de Tarija.
Abstract
Instances of Identity : the feast of St-Roch at Tarija, Bolivia
This article selects the feast of St-Roch at Tarija Bolivia as a privileged manifestation of cultural identity, more specifically a regional identity.
In order to provide a better understanding of the context the article begins with the presentation of ethnographic data and the author analyses a number of signs which refer to the past. These signs are brought to the present for the duration of the feast thus breaking apart the homogenous identity presented by the discourse of the people of Tarija.
