Résumé
À partir d’une recherche ethnographique menée dans la région italienne du Trentin et au Chili, cet article étudie la relation à l’origine familiale de petits-enfants d’émigrés italiens qui sont nés et ont grandi au Chili. Il interroge notamment la façon dont ils s’approprient leur histoire familiale et dont ils contribuent à remodeler les rapports de parenté au sein des familles transnationales dans lesquelles ils s’inscrivent. Cet article montre qu’il y a une relation étroite entre les mécanismes de transmission de l’histoire et de l’appartenance familiales et les processus par lesquels les descendants d’émigrés se les approprient. Si s’approprier l’histoire familiale semble être un processus générationnel, transmettre un sens des origines et de l’appartenance familiale et perpétuer les liens de parenté semble être un processus genré. Cet article analyse aussi la manière dont les rapports familiaux sont affectés par la « mobilité à rebours » des descendants d’émigrés vers le pays d’origine de leurs ancêtres, ainsi que la manière dont les familles transnationales, constellation de relations en puissance, souvent dormantes, se fondent sur et s’alimentent de la mobilité de leurs membres.

Abstract
Building on an ethnographic research I carried out in the Italian region of Trentino and in Chile, this article examines the relation of Italian emigrants’ grandchildren’s born in Chile to their family origins. In particular, it examines how they absorb their family history and how they contribute to reshaping kinship relations within the transnational families in which they are embedded. This article shows that there is a close relationship between the transmission patterns of family history and family belonging and the processes by which emigrants’ descendants appropriate them. It observes that while identifying with one’s family history seems to be a generational process, transmitting a sense of family belonging and perpetuating kinship seems to be a gendered process. This article also analyzes how family relations are affected by emigrants’ descendants “backwards mobility” to their ancestors’ original country and how transnational families, which are a constellation of potential, often dormant relations, build on and are thrive thanks to their members’ mobility.

Resumen
A partir de una investigación etnográfica realizada en la región italiana de Trento y en Chile, el presente articulo estudia la relación con los origines familiares de lo nietos de emigrados italianos que nacieron y crecieron en Chile. Cuestiona, entre otras cosas, la manera en que se apropian de su historia familiar y así contribuir a remodelar las relaciones de parentesco entre las familias transnacionales en las cuales se inscriben. Este articulo muestra que hay una relación estrecha entre los mecanismos de transmisión de la historia y de la pertenencia familiares y los procesos mediante los cuales los descendientes de emigrados se los apropian. Si apropiarse la historia familiar parece ser un proceso generacional, transmitir un sentido de los orígenes y de la pertenencia familiar, perpetuar los lazos de parentesco parece ser un proceso ligado al genero. Este articulo analiza asimismo la manera en que las relaciones familiares se ven afectadas por la «movilidad al revés» de los descendientes de emigrados hacia el país de origen de sus ancestros así como en ella manera en que las familias transnacionales, constelaciones de relaciones en potencia, con frecuencia latentes, se basan sobre y se nutren de la movilidad de sus miembros.
