Radio-Collège fut la première émission radiophonique éducative sur la chaîne francophone de Radio-Canada. Durant quinze ans, et jusqu’à l’arrivée de la télévision, elle présenta plusieurs séries en sciences, sciences humaines, religion et philosophie, arts visuels et musique, théâtre. Le leitmotiv qui traverse le contenu de ces émissions, l’inquiétude spirituelle et existentielle d’après-guerre, ouvre la voie aux grands questionnements des années soixante. La fin de Radio-Collège en 1956 marque aussi les débuts de la radio culturelle d’État.

Abstract

Radio-Collège was the first educational radio show on CBC’s French network. It aired several series about science, the humanities, religion and philosophy, fine arts, music, and theatre for fifteen years up to the advent of television. The series’ leitmotiv, post-war spiritual and existential anxiety, set the stage for the important questioning that took place in the 1960s. The end of Radio-Collège in 1956 coincides with the launch of public cultural radio.
