Le discours du sol dans le roman mauricien de 1850 à 1950

Résumé

À partir de certains modèles théoriques d'analyse, on peut distinguer trois schèmes opératoires reliés dans le processus d'élaboration du discours du sol à travers le roman paysan mauricien : l' inculte, le défriché et le cultivé. Partant de ces trois paradigmes fondamentaux de l'activité créatrice, et les situant eux-mêmes en rapport avec ceux du discours narratif (le héros, l'espace du récit, le temps de la narration), il nous a été possible d'analyser la typologie du discours du sol contenu dans un corpus de romans québécois d'inspiration mauricienne, parus entre 1850 et 1950. En mettant en relief les mécanismes organisateurs de la croyance ou du mythe, les auteurs dégagent les principaux rituels et archétypes symboliques spécifiques au monde des objets décrits par les romanciers.

Abstract

Starting with a certain number of theoretical and analytical models, three interrelated operative patterns can be distinguished in the structuring of the discourse about the land and the soil in the rural St. Maurice Valley novel : the inculte, the defriche and the cultive. Keeping in mind the last three fundamental paradigms of creative activity and situating them according to those of the narrative discourse (the hero, the space, the time of narration), enabled us to analyse the typology of the earth discourse included in a corpus of Québécois novels of St. Maurice Valley inspiration, published between 1850 and 1950. By bringing out into prominence the organizing mechanisms of belief or myth, the authors emphasize the main symbolic rituals and archetypes specific to the world of objects described by novelists.
