Cette rubrique réunit les textes des participants invités par le Quatuor Molinari à la table ronde du 10 décembre 1999. Le texte de présentation de la table ronde, préparé par Jean Portugais dans le sillage d’un court texte de Pierre Boulez, propose trois séries de questions — assez provocatrices — aux participants. Suivent cinq réactions écrites ; celles de trois compositeurs : José Evangelista, Serge Provost et John Rea, ainsi que celles de deux musicologues : Jean Boivin et Jean-Jacques Nattiez.

Abstract

The following paper consists of the proceedings from a round-table discussion held on December 10, 1999. In his introductory remarks, Jean Portugais first alludes to a brief essay by Pierre Boulez, then asks three series of questions, and rather provocative ones at that. To respond to these, composers José Evangelista, Serge Provost and John Rea offer their written comments, as do musicologists Jean Boivin and Jean-Jacques Nattiez.
