Alors que le style musical de Claude Vivier est souvent décrit par le biais des influences que l’on peut y retrouver, on tente de donner un éclairage différent du style émergeant du compositeur, en observant son évolution interne d’une oeuvre à l’autre, grâce à l’analyse. Après un bref survol des analyses paradigmatiques de Chants, Jesus erbarme dich, O ! Kosmos et Hymnen an die Nacht, on suit le parcours d’une formule musicale et de son évolution dans chacune des oeuvres et de l’une à l’autre.

Abstract

While the musical style of Claude Vivier is often described through an appeal to the influences which can be discerned, this article tries to shed new light on the emerging style of the composer by examining, through analysis, the internal evolution from one work to the next. After a brief survey of paradigmatic analyses of Chants, Jesus erbarme dich, O! Kosmos and Hymnen an die Nacht, the evolution of a melodic formula is traced in each of the works, and from one work to the next.
