Où est l’avenir de la sociologie?

Résumé

Le savoir scientifique contient une exigence d’universel. La sociologie n’y échappe pas. Pourtant, les sciences, en particulier les sciences humaines et sociales, s’émiettent de plus en plus et ne présentent que des formes de connaissance encore bien relatives et teintées de subjectivité. Y a-t-il possibilité d’un savoir universel objectif? L’auteur opte pour l’affirmative, en faisant reposer ce savoir sur la dimension absolue de la personne humaine. Il en résulte pour la sociologie la nécessité de se prolonger en « savoir-action », visant à transformer la société pour la mettre au service de l’intelligence et de la liberté des humains.

Summary

Scientific knowledge is imbued with a need for universality. Sociology does not make an exception to that phenomenon. Nonetheless, sciences, particularly human and social sciences, are more and more fragmented and display forms of knowledge that are still much relative and tainted with subjectivity. Is there any possibility of a universally objective knowledge? The author answers through the affirmative and makes it rest on the dimension of absolute that is present in the human person. It entails the necessity for sociology to prolong itself in "knowledge-action", aiming at the transformation of society in order to make it assist the development of intelligence and freedom among the human beings.
