Abstract
The central idea of this article is to explore complexities that students experience along their identity journey as Francophones and as Métis, and on their educational journey as students of the Faculty of Education at University of Saint-Boniface. Perspectives related to their cultural identity are presented as how to better grasp it and better understand their roles in the process of reconciliation. This is followed by their reflection on their identity and educational journey following the Indigenous Perspectives in a School Context course and their time at the University of Saint-Boniface. In light of relevant writings, the discussion underscores the fact that this questioning around their Métis Francophone cultural identity is common. It explores how these students seek to better understand and assert their Métis identity. In conclusion, we suggest ways to improve this course and better support French-speaking Métis students at University of Saint-Boniface and other universities.
