Le travail du non-contemporain : historiophagie ou historiographie?

Résumé

L'hétérogène est abordé ici sous la forme du non-contemporain ( das Ungleichzeitige ). Dans Erbschaft dieserZeit , Ernst Bloch s'est intéressé à la coexistence de phénomènes appartenant à des temps historiques hétérogènes. Il a relevé le défi que ces phénomènes lancent au discours historiographique marxiste. Son analyse du non-contemporain est confrontée avec celle de Fredric Jameson dans "Postmodernism, or The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism". En tant qu'historien du postmodernisme, Jameson fait face à un non-contemporain d'autant plus radical qu'identité et enjeux historiques des matériaux non contemporains se trouvent effacés dans la pratique culturelle postmoderne. Cette pratique historiophagique va jusqu'à dérober son objet à l'historiographe moderne.

Abstract

This essay proposes the analysis of two instances of the difficulties historiographical discourse encounters when facing an object characterized by non- contemporaneous heterogeneity: Ernst Bloch, Erbschaft dieser Zeit and Fredric Jameson, " Postmodernism, or Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism". While recognizing these epistemological difficulties, both historiographers try to save the marxist version of the modern master narrative and to bring historical order to recalcitrant historical phenomena.
